I’d like to add…. There are 100 things i would have done differently leading to this, like the JCPOA, so maybe it never had to happen. But given where we are, i believe anyone in the presidency would have done the same thing. The very bomb uses was created by Obama for this exact scenario
Adam, you are welcome to your belief but I beg to differ. A real President would have told Israel to back off and started talking to the Iranians. Furthermore I believe this wouldn't have happened if we'd have had the balls to elect Kamala Harris last November. Take a moment and contemplate at all the damage this incompetent president has done in so little time. On second thought, to do that task justice it will take at least an hour. In six months we may have a slight idea of what this one illegal act of criminal lunacy has cost us.
Let's cut to the chase. Folks, the United States of America has just attacked another country for no justifiable reason. How many innocent Iranians did we kill tonight? We have become Russia or Israel, barbarians on today's world stage. Today, Iran. Tomorrow, Canada or Greenland or Mexico or Panama or whomever???
After thinking about this overnight I've come to the conclusion that this was the right idea BUT the wrong inexperienced people doing it. The TACO🌮 MAN is now trying to prove that he is not a TACO🌮MAN at our expense. Put your helmets on and hold onto your wallet. We just proved to the world that there isn't much difference between our tyrant and the Russia tyrant. Way to go clowns, welcome to the circus!🤡
Alright Republicans it's time to go to war!!!! You don't need us right? Remember were the enemy within. Have at it!!!
This leads me to the obvious questions. Why was following the example of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor the "right idea"? Who would be the right person to lead us into a war with a country that is NOT at war with us, and a sneak attack at that? I don't know that person and expect that he doesn't exist.
I will agree that the Iranians shouldn't have nuclear weapons as soon as Israel dismantles all of theirs and submits to international inspection.
You are absolutely right about holding onto your wallets though. The irresponsible jackass who started this war still wants to give his buddies a big tax break while piling up the military bills.
It was the right idea for his ego. This is why we need a woman in charge. Even better, a woman of color. Women are more likely to have suffered at the hands of someone bigger and stronger, many of us take more criticism and bear more responsibility than men. We are often overlooked, laughed at when we assume a leadership role, and left at the mercy of men when it comes to decisions about our own futures. Shall I go on?
I’m not fishing for sympathy, indulging in self pity, or saying that all women are somehow verifiably better than all men, but think about it: Trumpffle has had his hands washed for him from the time he was born. He’s a bully who has to have dominance over men and women, both- and believes he deserves as much. What does he know about all of the suffering he has brought on in 2.0 (which, overall, will have a negative effect on women more than men hmmm…)?
Empathy, humility, and a good idea of what being at another person’s mercy doesn’t make someone weak and ineffective. It just means that person is more likely to avoid exploiting, maiming, or destroying others for a kick.
Sorry, I know I’m preaching to the choir with most of the men here. It’s just…are you KIDDING me? One (arguably deranged) person decides whether people live or die- in his country and abroad?? What could possibly go wrong?
What could possibly go wrong? I think I've been watching what can go wrong for the last 5 months! I didn't vote for this insanity! By the way this tyrant is not a "MAN"
My thinking mirrors yours, Michael. With all of the terrifying weapons available in this modern world, no one can 'unleash the dogs of war' with confidence. The repercussions for this have only a miniscule chance of being worthwhile.
I pray that cooler heads will prevail.....but I don't know if they exist.
I’m worried now how Iran will strike back at the us military stationed there and civilians here in the states! Does Trump truly think they’re going to sit on their hands and do nothing in retribution for our attack? Yes, our bombers made it home safely but we have many military stationed near there, on land and on sea, civilians as well. And again, how safe can we now be in the USA? I didn’t sleep well the first four years Trump was in office and not sleeping well again. Impeach the bastard. Impeach the vice as well.
I haven't felt safe domestically and internationally since November 8, 2016. It's been a royal mess since the tyrant entered the scene. Their's a devil on the loose and he's going to hit a brick wall sooner or later!
I’m not surprised by this, even tho Trump is a Taco President. I agree that Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon. Going back to pushing back on Trump & his administration. This doesn’t change a thing about him being a horrid & unlawful President.
I'm glad you mentioned JCPOA- because I feel that if trump didn't pull us out of this we may never had gotten to this point. As always trump creates a crisis and then tried to fix his own mess and now he claims success that he fixed his mess. Better not to create a mess in the first place.
Glad for the caveat … I feel this is/was a necessary intervention &for a variety of big picture reasons fell into place now. But … the process is one of dictatorships not democracy &that’s a serious problem. What’s on center stage remains … defeating MAGA decisively at the midterms and for all functional purposes making this Trump term a 2yr stint. We need a “team democracy” that can lead US through that. Currently the MAGAopposition, while filled w/talent and competence, hasn’t formed an effective coalition. It’s coming tho … 🤞🏼
Adam, you mentioned earlier that even countries in the Middle East (besides Israel) don't want Iran having nuclear weapons. Are there any countries in the world that do want Iran to have weapons?
Adam, that doesn't make sense. Both Russia and China have plenty of nuclear technology, highly enriched uranium, and weapons fabrication knowledge. They could have helped Iran put a weapon together months or years ago. So it seems obvious that up until this point Iran has not "wanted" a nuke. Notice the "up until this point". Things changed last evening.
ABC article this morning, "Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian president, prime minister of Russia, now the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, says "A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads,' So, here we go. We are a pawn of Israel, Iran is a pawn of Russia, China, and who knows who else. I'm thinking Trump is in it for his own good.
Yes. Having a bomb during Obama's term is a sign of peace through strength. Please don't mess with us, as we can retaliate in a significant and destructive manner. It was the same as ICBMs. Peace through strength is not using the warheads. It is having them.
According to Lev Parnas, Putin had already had Iran’s nuclear materials and equipment moved to another location prior to the bombings. I don’t claim to know if that is true, but wonder what the point was in Trump saying he would decide in 2 weeks—maybe to wait until Putin gave the “all clear”???
I believe that everything that Trump does has to have the approval of Putin.
But it was never used Adam. Diplomacy is a word not known by this regime, We have a steaming shitshow running our government. There is not one single person of competence. This is terrifying. To say this is short and complete is insane.
I think Iran still would have obtained a nuclear weapon even with the JCPOA intact because of the sunsetting of important provisions. So I think this was coming either way if we were going to keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. I appreciate your perspective on this Adam.
Iran has just been shown that they must develop a nuclear weapon to counter those of Israel and bring some restraint to US actions. Why do people think Iran is more irresponsible than Israel? Watching both countries for the past 60 years sure hasn't brought me to that conclusion. After the genocide in Gaza, the land thieving and murdering on the West Bank, the attacks on their neighbors, the refusal to join the NPT, their attack on the USS Liberty, killing US service personnel, and their many wars, I worry a lot more about Israel than I do Iran.
Iran was developing a nuclear weapon so it could finish Hitler's dream. They have said so many times. It has been a bi-partisan consensus that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Both Parties have failed on that policy. Now that bi-partisan consensus is closer to reality.
Umm…any other president would have maybe…gone through congress before dropping bombs on a dangerous, wildly unpredictable country that hates the US with vigor?
TACO wouldn’t have done this if Iran was next door. But Iran IS next door to our allies, and they will likely suffer the consequences of the actions taken by our local lunatic in charge.
If I’m wrong about any of this, PLEASE, someone set me straight.
Adam, here we part company on the bombing of Iran enrichment sites. Trump ran on a "no war" policy and he is likely to have just started one. The retaliation on the US Qatar base which was not successful is just the beginning of the Iran response. My real concern is another era of destabilization in the middle east which will mean more bombings. I hope no American soldiers stationed in the middle east get killed. I hope civilians in neighboring countries do not get killed in the cross fire. This will also mean gas prices will escalate. This is not over by a long shot. America and the American people are now at risk of retaliation. In the end, Iran will indeed produce nuclear bombs. We don't know at this point where the enriched uranium is located in Iran since it was likely moved a few days before the bombing.
Is this the same scenario as in 2003? Colin Powell went on record saying there were weapons of mass destruction and we know that turned out not to be true and many lives have been lost due to that choice.
Not the same, Amy. In 2003, I remember I was living in France, many Allies were not supporting the Iraq war. France was against it which prompted the short lived renaming of French fires into freedom fries. This time we know the danger is real. There is no question on the willingness and ability of Iran to build a nuclear bomb.
Thanks for your perspective, Christel, as I am assuming a European? I admit to having written my initial comment emotionally, shortly after hearing about the bombing. I just remember what the run up to the Iraq war was like in the US (and was one of the people in the streets protesting in NYC and Washington D.C., and so I am dubious…) I will try to understand more what the facts are and I believe Adam himself to be a good source of commentary on current events over all. But I just don’t trust this current administration, and I remain very distressed to be unwillingly aiding a genocide through my tax dollars, to not be helping a sovereign nation attacked by Russia, and now this…
It’s a horrible time to be an American in terms of any sort of pride. Not when we have recently turned our own military on our own people, who are justified in being angry about the way in which immigration issues are being handled. Inhumane and authoritarian in behavior. It’s an absolute disgrace.
Thank you for the sources. I have to say I was also thinking about this whole idea that no one wants Iran to have a nuclear weapon. While, I’m sure that is true and we don’t want that, sometimes it seems like the United States is represented as the country that knows best when it comes to these things.
We are a country that has willingly elected Donald Trump not once, but twice. I’m sorry, but due to this, and all that has gone with that choice, I have serious concerns about the judgment of many of my fellow countrymen. If we were willing to put such a person at the helm, why do we think we know best in terms of how to handle a nuclear arsenal on the world stage at this point?
And also, hasn’t he, meaning Trump, basically gotten rid of anyone who might push back or question his judgment about military action? I certainly don’t trust Pete Hegseth. JFC…
I mean, what are we actually doing?
I respect Adam‘s experience, both in the military and as a congressman. But he has admitted being very hawkish, and that’s fine, many people with his experience are. I just personally am not generally.
It just seems really despicable that we are engaging in this action, when we also seem to be doing so little to help Ukraine now, and they continue to fight for their lives.
I totally agree with you, Amy. The most unqualified is acting on behalf of the United States of America right now. Trump in his speech, announcing the bombing look like he was acting in a movie or something.
The only thing I worry about is having America and every American being targeted now
Someone on Substack just reported that Iranian TV said
“ Mr. Trump you started it we will finish it”
This is my concern the retaliation . If people will remember, they are not concerned about they themselves dying in an attack.
It is just all very concerning and adding it to everything else that’s going on all the rest of the chaos everywhere that’s been created since January 20. It all is pretty overwhelming.
No, I was too disgusted. I will listen to the whole thing at some point. We need Israel out of our government and our lives. That’s where most of my anger lies.
The Israeli people themselves don’t even want Benjamin Netanyahu as their leader.
They were protesting in massive amounts before the October 7 invasion, wanting him to be taken down and resigned because he was being investigated for corruption
Him and Trump both wanna maintain power so they don’t go to jail for corruption
Trump plays his anti semitism card again. He knows how to do this well ! Netanyahu is stupid enough to accept his “help”. Solves two problems for the TRUMP FAMILY and their quest for TRUMPLAND in the MIDEAST
I agree with Adam. But we are dealing with a lawless administration and yes by law, he needed to get congressional approval. Im pretty sure there was bipartisan agreement in the house and senate. So basically, he’s doing whatever he wants which is circumventing the constitution again.
I agree with Adam—Iran can’t have nuclear weapons. If Trump had bipartisan support in Congress, and I doubt he did, would it have been so difficult to get our representatives and senators (whose salaries we pay) to formally OK the strike? This only furthers the argument that we now live in a dictatorship.
The concern is Trump only notified Republicans. Someday the shoe might be on the other foot -- "The Republican's may get their toes stepped on next time"!
Another point on whether he should have come to congress: it depends. He has to notify the leaders which I’m sure he did, and now has 60 days. But it depends what a “war” is. In reality, nobody comes to congress anymore. And i have mixed feelings on that. They should but we don’t have a serious congress anymore.
If they don’t come to work, why are they getting paid? I think they were paid off so the don’t come to work. The Republicans not the Democrats. I believe this was done so that Congress couldn’t function. What we have left is a Trump stacked Supreme Court. Now, we can’t impeach the President?
Here's what I found on this: "The War Powers Resolution requires “in the absence of a declaration of war” that a president report to Congress within 48 hours after introducing United States military forces into hostilities, which must end within 60 days unless Congress permits otherwise. .. The resolution also makes it clear that Congress believes the president’s commander-in-chief powers are limited to “hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances,” and can be exercised “only pursuant to (1) a declaration of war, (2) specific statutory authorization, or (3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.” And finally it says- "Since 1973, most presidents have ignored parts or all of the War Powers Resolution." !!

yes- I looked that up- it's the War Powers Resolution. I get it. We, our military, are the big dog …. And you have a wonderful way of explaining things. If I had the slightest bit of confidence that fdt was looking out for OUR interests I might be able to get behind this. He is F’n crazy thinking he has any power over there. He’s (we) are getting used…. Again
I'm pretty sure also that his team told him about the comments on social media that he was a chicken and wouldn't go through with it. So they egged him on and then he was just like "fuck it I'll show them"!
Agree Iran shouldn't have a nuclear. Then again Mango Mussolini shouldn't have access to one either. Trump does business with all these people that supply terrorists. None of the Trump's will have to go to war.
Adam, thank you so much for speaking on this in a measured and informative way. Everyone on social media is screaming that it's WWIII and that is not helpful for anyone.
It has been my goal here to tell you what i think and listen to thoughts, like we should do in a democracy . Not tell you what i think you want to hear. I don’t spin
I don’t see a spin on your part at all. It is your opinion which comes from a place of experience and knowledge and I don’t doubt that for a millisecond. BUT…..now you’re confident that Trump probably did the right thing and told the leaders??? Trump probably did the right thing this time? Are we kidding around here? And yes it should have gone through congress but no one else does it either so that’s also no big deal? I think that’s the letdown people are referring to as “spin”. At least it is for me.
I always do as well, and already opened with that very sentiment. But my comments regarding saying “Trump probably told the leaders” and “it should have gone through congress but nobody else does it either and this congress is useless” are somewhat a contradiction of the beliefs I admire so much in Adam. Adam is unafraid to admit that Trump is corrupt and a liar at every turn and rock solid that we honor the constitution. This was a bit of a departure on both points for me.
I’d like to add…. There are 100 things i would have done differently leading to this, like the JCPOA, so maybe it never had to happen. But given where we are, i believe anyone in the presidency would have done the same thing. The very bomb uses was created by Obama for this exact scenario

Thanks, very helpful overview
That is encouraging, to hear that the people have someone who has a better future in mind for the country. 🤞🏻
This is so fucked up. It’s wrong. There is no right here. Where is the proof? Israel pulls our strings again.
I totally agree with you, Mary!
I do too I agree with you
DITTO!

It is just all very concerning and adding it to everything else that’s going on all the rest of the chaos everywhere that’s been created since January 20. It all is pretty overwhelming.
You are so right Mary!
Mary, I get it, but, did you listen to the whole video?
We just struck a foreign country without approval of Congress. Don’t you find that problematic?
I agree with Adam. But we are dealing with a lawless administration and yes by law, he needed to get congressional approval. Im pretty sure there was bipartisan agreement in the house and senate. So basically, he’s doing whatever he wants which is circumventing the constitution again.
I agree with Adam—Iran can’t have nuclear weapons. If Trump had bipartisan support in Congress, and I doubt he did, would it have been so difficult to get our representatives and senators (whose salaries we pay) to formally OK the strike? This only furthers the argument that we now live in a dictatorship.
Absolutely. This is our country and, and, he should have went on TV to announce it.
He’s going to speak at 10PM.
Yes, I heard. I cringe his voice but I want to hear this word salad.
Oh, this is his dream come true. He is going to feel so high and mighty. Nothing more powerful in this man's mind than money and war.
Same.
The concern is Trump only notified Republicans. Someday the shoe might be on the other foot -- "The Republican's may get their toes stepped on next time"!
RINO --- Ed
I’m curious if he notified any of our allies. It seems like he might not have given it wasn’t mentioned in his extremely brief address to the nation.
Do we even have any allies?
What allies? Putin?
Russia and Israel likely.
Good question
Yes it’s problematic and unconstitutional. They are nullifying Congress.
I sure do
Another point on whether he should have come to congress: it depends. He has to notify the leaders which I’m sure he did, and now has 60 days. But it depends what a “war” is. In reality, nobody comes to congress anymore. And i have mixed feelings on that. They should but we don’t have a serious congress anymore.
He notified the REPUBLICAN leaders but not the Democrats. Once again, I wonder if he is going to beat his breast like George W. did.
If they don’t come to work, why are they getting paid? I think they were paid off so the don’t come to work. The Republicans not the Democrats. I believe this was done so that Congress couldn’t function. What we have left is a Trump stacked Supreme Court. Now, we can’t impeach the President?
I believe everyone commenting on this post believes in the constitution. But obviously Trump and the Republicans do not.
Adam - did he have to ask Congress? I’m seeing that all over social media.

Thank you! I just saw a couple reps in Congress speak out and I saw Hakeem Jeffries’ statement.
I’m worried about a false flag scenario here. I appreciate your wisdom but I do not trust our administration.
According to Lev Parnas, Putin had already had Iran’s nuclear materials and equipment moved to another location prior to the bombings. I don’t claim to know if that is true, but wonder what the point in waiting was.
Nervous? Scared shitless might be a better term. These idiots can't do anything right. What makes us think this will end well?
Thanks for the update. Just one question, wasn’t he supposed to get Congress approval?
In theory yes, but nobody ever does. Technically he has to notify congress which I’m sure he did (the leaders) and he has 60 days now
Thanks, I agree with you. But since he’s been violating the constitution, that’s what worried me.
The Constitution is not even an afterthought - no constraints allowed.
I am going to call my Republican Rep and Senators on Mon morning. They work for us, not Donald Trump.
This unchecked power has got to stop. AOC came out and called for his impeachment. I want the disgusting unchecked behavior to stop.
yes- I looked that up- it's the War Powers Resolution. Already asked a quick question, but now I say my concern is the reaction of China and Russia.
Also, we are so much less safe here in our country with what he has done since January. I worry about terrorist attacks here as payback.
Adam please run for president. As a democrat I’d vote for you please protect our troops over there.
It looks like we all agree Mr Kinzinger. I’m in Philadelphia, if you need campaign help.
Seriously…. You need to put the dots close together for me. I believe this is insane
Is this our payback for defying 'The King'?
Now we wait to see if our might is greater than their fanaticism
Pride goeth before the....
One hopes
What about Congress?!!!
Sorry Adam, I cannot agree with you! We are now in another STUPID war in the Middle East!!!
You are spinning Adam. Very political spin.
It has been my goal here to tell you what i think and listen to thoughts, like we should do in a democracy . Not tell you what i think you want to hear. I don’t spin
No you dont spin 😡which is why we’re here for you
Please enlighten me. I have an opinion and i shared that. Spin?
Of the many things I admire about you, Adam, is that, IMO, you always tell it straight. Thank you for that.
Thanks. I feel i try to as well
I don’t see a spin on your part at all.
Adam’s motto is “country over party,” and I admire his knowledge, expertise, and integrity in this video.
