Thank you Adam, your tenacity and commitment is a model to be aspired to by so many of the fearful and cowardly. Your encouragement to those that follow you is a gift.

The people are doing their part right now by protesting but we need the Democrats to set up a spokesperson to do a news conference same time everyday covered by the news media pointing out the tyrants recent cruel acts. Somebody on the Democrats side please wake up!!!

Adam, how do we get republicans in the House to do the right thing? They have completely shut people out. We could literally change the direction we are headed by having 6-7 republicans cross the aisle. We could stop the tariffs, and the economy from tanking. We could do a lot more but they are FAILING with their oath to the constitution. How much do we have to lose before they do something?

Bodhi's avatar

Waiting for republicans to act patriotic is like waiting for THEIR potus to act presidential

The entire Republican Party are either actively assisting the coup or have been cowardly complicit

Regardless they’re ALL glty of High Crimes

WE CAN NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF THE FACT THAT *REPUBLICANS ARE *RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF AMERICAN DEMOCRACY

Tfg is just a symptom of their corruption

GOP owns the monster they now fear

Adam’s reply to can GOP be saved was—(paraphrasing) ‘No I don’t think the GOP can be saved in the near future but I don’t know.’ That was from his documentary called The Last Republican

There’s a big difference today between having a Conservative Ideology and identifying with the Republican Party.

Tim & Adam still hold conservative values but that’s not what GOP stands for anymore.

Today’s GOP is the most corrupt American political party in modern history supporting & protecting a Proven pathological liar racist rapist incompetent 🇷🇺 asset convicted felon American traitor for a decade AND for their POTUS ~ aka High Crimes—Violation of Oaths—

Anyone of these behaviors would disqualify anyone else from ever holding office again

The entire party is deserving of Impeachment

I’d vote for Adam in a heartbeat as an Independent Democrat or whatever new party is going to emerge. I’ve been encouraging him to lead a new party. He’s an honest natural leader & would attract all the right people

Adam and Liz Cheney will be recorded in history as courageous Patriots for standing up to their party’s corruption by putting America first.

Something their former colleagues seem incapable of.

But the Fact Is Republicans Could Stop This At Anytime & choose not to

If there were No Republican Party rn:

—No Coup

—No trump

—No oligarchy

—Common sense gun laws

—Equality & inclusion for all

—Women’s rights restored

etc etc

Settling for just getting rid of tfg and leaving GOP in place is akin to removing a symptom but leaving the disease

How do we get republicans in the House to do the right thing? Protest the heck out of them and at the town halls ask them why are they trying to ruin the country. PRESSURE PRESSURE PRESSURE

NEXT PROTEST: Thursday May 1st https://maydaystrong.org/

Totally agree Bring It On John! As another vet from the same war, the defense line is holding, but there are bulges. What we need now is a massive, well planned, well communicated counter attack. That's probably a bit much to ask for at this moment, but enough hard working Americans have been skunked and many of them, plus the rest of u, should be lining up. On the plus side, Independents who voted for Trump have seen their support for him drop by -22. Let's Bring It On!

I Resist's avatar

I agree, Dems have practically disappeared from the news. Instead of just attacking Trump they need a new platform on what they plan to do for the people and it better be more moderate in my opinion!

WayneNW's avatar

Marissa, the key to get Republican Representatives to change is to start Recall petitions in their districts. They won't be able to ignore that!

Marisa Gibbons's avatar

Wayne, can you provide a bit more information on that? I haven’t heard about that process but am more than willing to do it!

WayneNW's avatar

Marissa, the process varies from state-to-state. So I can't tell you. It depends on your state laws. Try to connect with local protest groups and see if they can help.

Dan's avatar

I believe there is no such thing in the United States. It is a feature of some countries' systems, not ours.

WayneNW's avatar

Dan, I'm afraid you're incorrect. In 2021, there were 529 recall attempts (all levels of government) in the US per Wikipedia but only 25 were successful. Recalls have been part of the election process since colonial times.

Dan's avatar

State and local office, yes in many states and counties, and very much worth pursuing. But there is no recall mechanism for the US House and Senate.

WayneNW's avatar

Dan, I stand corrected. I would have bet my life savings that Federal Representatives and Senators were recallable. Glad I didn't do that because you are correct. Perhaps it's because my state's legislators are recallable. So we are truly screwed until 2026 elections. Bah, humbug. :(

Dan's avatar

Thanks Wayne. Under normal circumstances (ie everything before Trump) the lack of recall mechanisms at the Federal level may have provided stability. In today’s world, we sorely miss it, especially since the only Constitutional means to prevent autocracy in the short term (impeachment, 25th) look entirely unrealistic at the moment.

Carol Scott's avatar

MoveOn is targeting these 7 members of the house as possibles. If you live in these districts inundate them. If you live out of their districts send postcards.

David Schweikert in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District

Juan Ciscomani in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District

Ken Calvert in California’s 41st Congressional District

Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District

Tom Barrett in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District

Don Bacon in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District

Jen Kiggans in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District

Apparently more than we’ve lost so far and that’s a lot.

Ellen Brown's avatar

We are not defined by Trump. This is true. However, our allies are running in the opposite direction and foreigners are increasingly frightened to visit our country. Only an uprising will save us. Mass protests held every week don’t seem to have an impact. That can only be achieved by the midterms. Hoping those who stayed on the sidelines in ‘24 decide to vote. This needs to be our focus—supporting those who believe in democracy and freedom.

Laura Fraser's avatar

My concern, watching this from Canada, is that Trump will manufacture a crisis and declare Martial Law, cancel the midterms, and fulfill his dream of a lifelong Presidency with no fear of ever being held accountable.

Judy Cross's avatar

If he declared Marial Law, I do think that the People of the United States would rise up and I'm not sure that our military would follow him. After all, they have good old drunken Pete at the helm, who puts our country and the military at risk every time he uses Singlegate. I'm sure much of the military is inflamed by that, if not all. They are there to protect our country and from what I have seen - it needs protecting - from tRump, his goonies, SCOTUS and the Senators that want to see our country destroyed.

John/ Bring It On 🤠🌵🪖's avatar

Judy I agree, being a veteran and knowing that the military is made up of Democrats and Republicans I would have a hard time believing that ALL of the military would follow him. Even a slight brake in the ranks would create a huge problem for the Armed Forces and would be the start of the downfall of the tyrant. If we want this nightmare to be over quick let him declare "Martial Law". End of Story!!!

Joan Bailey's avatar

Never thought of it that way. You would know better than I since you served. And a big thank you for your service and sacrifice on the behalf of your country and her citizens.

Judy Cross's avatar

Thank you for your service. God Bless.

WayneNW's avatar

John, while you may be right, I'd rather not test it.

Dorothy's avatar

I would rather test it than live in a fascist dictatorship.

John/ Bring It On 🤠🌵🪖's avatar

I agree, I think people are getting sick and tired of watching 250 yrs of our Democracy being washed down the drain in 3 months. We want a hopeful future not one that leaves us wondering whether we did enough to fight back!!! "Freedom Isn't Free"

Laura Fraser's avatar

But would any of the members of the US armed forces actually refuse to follow orders from the President? In Canada some of us are certain that Trump will decide to invade at some point. Would the top brass refuse? I just don't see that happening.

John/ Bring It On 🤠🌵🪖's avatar

The answer to your 1st question is probably yes. As far us invading Canada, the whole country would be against that including MAGA except for a few lunatics. I still believe our military has the courage to do the right thing!!!

WayneNW's avatar

Laura, I think it may split the armed forces. He may still find enough to try an Invasion if he's not too busy putting down an insurrection.

John/ Bring It On 🤠🌵🪖's avatar

I agree with Adam, he's a weak little man. He'll back down if it gets too dangerous for him.

Dorothy's avatar

California us collecting signatures to put another referendum on the ballot to secede. If its successful this time, Drumpf will be too busy sending troops to California. The troops will definitely be divided, just like the Civil War.

David Skoglund's avatar

Judy; The betrayal of Ukraine and weakening of NATO can’t be something the military approves of.

Joan Bailey's avatar

Laura, that is what a lot Americans are feeling too. That as the orange man-baby becomes more desperate because as SCOTUS pushes back and rallies become larger and often, he feels he has no choice but to declare martial law. But we dare not stay silent. That is a risk we’re willing to take.

Sally Sprague's avatar

That is more scary than Halloween! 🙀

Ellen Brown's avatar

Certainly not out of the question. There are no boundaries.

Mary VW's avatar

Yep. He now knows he can do anything and no one can stop him. Oh maybe they can stall him a but not actually stop him. He knows that.

Gigi's avatar

Glenn Kirschner says it’s time to tell repubs to “cross the aisle and save democracy.” I’m starting with Lisa Murkowski. Impeach and convict, which they had the chance to do many years ago TWICE and didn’t. Justice Matters!!

Marisa Gibbons's avatar

Agree 100%. It’s not hard to do the right thing! Good lord, if Congress would just do their job and act like they are a co-equal branch if our government they could change the world. Think about that. One person is trashing our economy and our ideals and 6 or 7 people could change that.

Jessica L's avatar

100% AGREE!!!! How much worse can it get? (Let's not try to imagine). You are absolutely right. Maybe a few more Congressional House and Senate Republicans will grow some balls (sorry for the crude imagery..lol) and come to the realization that their fear of Trump retaliation is absolutely no excuse for doing what's right. It's just so damn pathetically obvious. I'll keep hoping because that's who I am.

Gigi's avatar

It’s going to take more than a few but I’m sure most repubs on the Hill are living in fear. He pardoned the 1500 J6 convicts for a reason. “If not now, when?”

sean malee's avatar

Thank you Adam for the good fight. There is hope, i attended a protest march last weekend which was positive, peaceful, and lifted my spirits. I would recommend it. I had to leave my small rural town to feel comfortable doing so, but totally worth it. The judiciary is slowly working towards reeling these maga traitors in. We need to have patience, the courts grind slow as they were designed to. Sentiment among those who pay attention are turning against maga. Even in conservative circles. Maintain pressure, keep hope. Don’t give up. Fight!

Julia's avatar

I find small actions provide a wee bit sense of control. I email my Republican useless house representative every day, urging what he should be doing something about (no shortage of topics). I’ve also attended three protests now. It’s a community of strangers. It’s not world or life-changing at the moment, but it will be soon.

Jessica L's avatar

BRAVO TO YOU! You are demonstrating EXACTLY what we should be doing! Getting involved....in little or big ways.....anything! Letting our voices be heard! Although I live in a blue state, I too have written to Republican members of congress in protest. It can give us a sense of control...albeit to a small degree...but nonetheless, ANY action is better than sitting on our butts lamenting and complaining. Getting involved is a great way to coalesce and show our strength! So once again....BRAVO to you!

Dorothy's avatar

Completely agree! Protesting and getting involved in any way possible is very empowering.

Judy Cross's avatar

Do you ever hear back from you Republican representative and, if so, does he/she have anything remotely encouraging to say - like he will do the job that he was elected to do?Protect our Constitution and save our Demoracacy. Or does he/she ignore you and not supply any answers to why they are letting tRump ruin our Country? I bet the later.

Go Buckeyes!'s avatar

Mine is Risch in Idaho - and he is a total Trump admirer and maga. I complained about the save act and already doing the rigmarole for my Real ID. He wrote back he cosponsored the bill! On another reply he bragged that he’s always supported everything Trump wants. It’s probably a staff with a canned response, but it tells me all I need to know. He’s 81 and can’t have much more time - unless he turns out to be like Grassley.

Julia's avatar

My rep is Tom Emmer, House Whip, MAGA coward. Every so often I receive a form letter reply related to an email, but it is written in the form of propaganda for bills/actions he is supporting related to Trump‘s agenda vs. my specific concerns.

Adam your comments are so meaningful to me. I have never felt so depressed. After spending half of career working with members of Congress of both parties and their staffs, I am just shocked as to how so many legislators have sold out their country. Thank you. Russ

Shall we create a mantra from Adam’s reminder, “We remain committed to the ideals of decency, generosity, lawfulness, and justice.”. The country is in the grips of a psychopathic narcissistic inhumane person who surrounded himself with ineptitude. God bless Lisa Murkowski for admitting the sign of times. But when will these senators take actions in support of democracy, constitution, truth and the words in quotes above. Upside down world!

Joan Bailey's avatar

They, the elected officials, have more power than the man-baby if they would stop viewing “sides” and see America as the “whole”. We’ll never get through this if they don’t.

Professor Mac's avatar

Your words remind us all that we are not alone in this. I have found myself spending twice as much time with my therapist at the VA over the past few months, with the focus ending up being on how to deal with all of the political madness and fear.

I will admit that seeing the growing protests and unity gives me hope. We just need more leadership to spread the hope.

Judy Cross's avatar

Thank you for your service. You are not alone. There are millions of us and we will Win. The dishonorable times will be behind us and we will make America GREAT again. We will get people in Congress that honor the Constitution and our Democracy. God Bless

It is right to be kind to our neighbors, even if they are irritating as hell….It is right to be concerned & intervene, if possible, if we see men in black with masks & no identifying badges, etc.abducting people. It is right to feel sick about the injustice erupting all around us. It is right to cry sometimes. It is right to feel really angry about seeing our country going down, and to channel that anger into to positive action & peaceful, protective marching. May we not be the ones to light the powder keg.

And Adam, you don’t have to be a councilor to give us truthful, kind, empowering words. Thanks, brother.

A year ago, we talked about moving to the DMV this fall, to be closer to family and our daughter who is just starting law school. I lived in DC in the 80s and loved it - the monuments, the history, the restaurants, the Kennedy Center. But now I feel so sad about moving to a place where Trumpism is rampant. It has left me shaken and depressed thinking about the beautiful city I used to love and also confused about whether or not to make a move. Thank you, Adam, for your generous insight into how we are all feeling. And thank you for bringing this community together.

Pete Martinez's avatar

America was warned time and time again what to expect of the world’s most renowned malignant narcissist were he to win the presidency. Remember this?

Donald Trump : “I know NOTHING about Project 2025”.

Voters must have missed the YouTube airing of the undercover exposure of Russell Vought, Trump’s odious crony who helped to compile Project 2025. He was exposed telling undercover reporters how he enjoyed a deep relationship with Trump and dismissed his former boss’s disavowal of the Project confirming it was simply to fool the voters. (Just Google Russell Vought undercover).

Vought said his close relationship with Trump meant that he could put those transition documents directly into his hands. “There are people like me that have his trust that will be able to get it to him in whatever position we’re at,” he said. “The relationships are there. The trust level is there.” Vought also pointed to the fact he was recently chosen as the policy director for the Republican National Convention’s Platform Committee, as evidence of the Trump campaign’s trust in him and his ideas.

In the video, you’ll hear Vought also stating how the public wouldn’t get to see the documents before the next Presidential election. They were top secret. The plan was to share them clandestinely with Trump’s transition team, to avoid them being obtained by journalists via freedom of information requests.

And sadly, folks, as Adam so often explains, the rest is history.

Judy Cross's avatar

It may be history, but I believe that history is going to be changed and not in tRumps favor. We have the knowledge of what he is doing. We can fight him for our rights, for the Constitution and Democracy. We need SCOTUS to take his immunity away. HOW CAN WE DO THAT? If he didn't have immunity, he would not get away with so much. The Senate is never going to do their jobs. They would rather be jesters in the wantabe kings court. They have had more than enough time to reign him in, but they would rather kiss his a_s. They don't have anything to worry about, since all of them have money. They could care less about the poor or even the people of the United States. Their behavior tells me that they think they are THE PEOPLE, not elected to do their jobs. The jobs that the people who elected them expected them to do. Everyone that is not doing their job, should look in the mirror and ask themselves, "Who the hell am I? What have I been doing to our Constitution and Democracy? Is this what I was elected for? How do I turn it around? Then go home and face their spouse and family and say "I'm not a good person. I was elected by the good people of the United States to do a job and I haven't been doing it. What do I do? Do I continue on the path that I have taken, or do I turn this around and do my job?" For most of us that answer is simple. DO YOUR JOB THAT YOU WERE ELECTED TO DO. REPRESENT YOUR PEOPLE. PROTECT OUR CONSTITUTION AND DEMOCRACY.

Pete Martinez's avatar

Judy, I couldn’t agree more and it must be hoped that Trump continues to be seen to create more and more unnecessary havoc as each day goes by.

Sadly for your once proud country, the Republican Party is now rotten to the core.

Millions voted for Trump. Is this really what they wanted, or are they only trying to save face? It's their team. Are they aware of what is being done in their names? Have they no decency? You can bet that Trump isn't going to do the right thing, from my perspective.

Nancy Hendon's avatar

I would really like to know what is the RETALIATION they fear? I loathe, despise Trump. So he calls names!so he TRIES to intimidate them, attempts to make them fear for their jobs. If they would just WAKE UP and realize Trump only has the power THEY give him.

Rebekah Fetzer's avatar

Yes, except his power destroys businesses and non profits alike by controlling with money. He and his have the power to destroy and is doing so every day. No amount of holding onto my values can change the power grab. Or bring back USAID or Headstart or any of the hundreds of smashed programs.
