I'd love to see Adam Kinzinger and Pete Buttigieg brought together for a deep conversation on how conservatives and progressives can work together—not just to bridge ideological divides, but to peacefully resist the authoritarian drift of the current administration.
They could also dig into how to break through our current information silos and rebuild a shared democratic culture.
It's hard to understand the unhappiness in our country when we are so lucky. Try visiting a third world country. My daughter was in Peace Corp in Kyrgyzstan. No running water, no garbage pick up, no inside bathrooms (only out houses), No showers. (public ones you pay for ). Public transport is cabs or hollowed out vans. But the people were mostly happy and friendly.
This is the hardest to understand. No immigrant or LGBTQ person has ever hurt me or my family. Why can't we judge people by the content of their souls ?
Thanks to both of you! You are giving us hope so please keep it up and let's all rise to work together so that our history is not handed over to people who don't respect what America has strived to become. WE can do better together for US and the world.
I took a trip through rural Maine last year. No one for miles. I’d pass a few lonely houses by the road with signs in front against immigrants. Yeah, the country is huge and has lots of empty space.
“Seriously? Dude, just give me something to work with here!” I was just working, trying to engage him on some level of ordinary conversation. It wasn’t until later that I saw it and realized—he has no idea what the Declaration actually is.
This was a great conversation to listen to. I feel more optimistic as I heard you both express positive things that exist in our country. Occasionally it seems overwhelming and what can one do. But we need you both to remind of of a good perspective. Thank you both

Shame on those that said it was insensitive for Adam and his family to take a vacation. We have to fight, but life, also has to go on. We all need time away from this regime to start feeling human again and to energize for the next round. Remember that when you feel overwhelmed. There are enough of us to fill in so that those that need a break, a vacation, or just time to read a book can do so. God Bless

Maine is my next trip...my childhood and lifelong destination for peace and loons and canoeing...solace....happy times. Memories in abundance...

Terry I would love to know what was going through your mind when trump was talking about what the Declaration of independence means to him.
