Good for you, Adam! You are fierce!

Lynette Crain's avatar

This is what a real leader looks like. Well done, Adam Kinzinger. We have your back.

John/ Bring It On 🤠🌵🪖's avatar

"DICTATOR" I'm yelling it from the roof tops!!! It's official, the tyrants like to disobey court orders. The Saddam Hussein of America with his golden Palace (White House) has essentially pushed aside the Federal Courts and Congress and taken control of the country. This is a message that needs to be mentioned over and over again. "We The People " need to take it to the streets sooner rather then later. We all need to wake up QUICKLY!!!

“We’re not stopping. I DON'T CARE WHAT THE JUDGES THINK. I don’t care what the left thinks. we’re coming,” Tom Homan told “Fox & Friends”. And this is the problem!

The Democrats need to stop worrying about governing and start acting like the opposition party defending the Constitution. They should be pointing out all the damage the tyrants have done and start taking the message to the people.

Exactly. NOW IS THE TIME.

I agree 💯. Adam, you are the kind of leader we need. I support you 100%.

Where the Heck are the other retired Republicans -- Boehner, Ryan, Bush, Cheney, etc.?

I have been a Republican for my adult life -- now retired. I'm a RINO at best.

My party has abandoned me; and I have basically abandoned them!

RINO (at best) -- Ed

Joni's avatar

Feeling the same about many retired Democrats...especially our former presidents and candidates. What the hell are they waiting for?

Joan Bailey's avatar

And why are they politicians at all if they aren’t going to work for us. It’s a waste of my money to pay their salaries if they aren’t going just going to remain silent and sit of their hands.

michele's avatar

Yeah, where ARE the former presidents??!!?

I Resist's avatar

And what are they supposed do? Decry Donnie is a bad boy? If we don’t get millions in the streets we are toast because every day they brazenly flaunt the law and only a few judges are trying to stop him. When a government isn’t serving the people we know what we have to do with it!

Mandy S. Twiny's avatar

The reason many of us are looking for the formers is because they “have a bigger platform” than you and I. That’s the problem- we’ve got used to being rescued, and that’s not going to work this time.

I Resist's avatar

I think I agree, but I'm guessing they may be afraid to come out against a sitting president. They know he would attack them back. More chicken shit. What I really believe is everyone needs to know whether they believe in democracy enough to fight for it, or are we going to be like the Russians who keep taking the same crap from Putin and his Oligarchs. Boy, are we ever on the same course-sickening to me, but if you don't stand up for what you believe that's exactly what you get. Read Navalny's recent Memoir: Patriot. He goes into a lot of detail how Putin and his gang are stealing billions from the Russian people.

Mandy S. Twiny's avatar

WE need to act now. Everyone in this country.

Lynette Crain's avatar

Except we have these congressmen and representative for the duration (unless Leon decides to fire them. (Funny …but, I know, not really funny) We re-elect our Virginia Governor/Lt Gov and AG in November, but that is state leadership. I have been told by my Republican governor to take my “federal government” concerns to the Republican House rep. I have. Crickets. I also may have had a civil, but very stern conversation with a neighbor who asked, in a social setting, if I would sign a petition for a Republican gubernatorial candidate. I do what I can.

michele's avatar

Yes! fellow Virginian, here

Mandy S. Twiny's avatar

Federal government concerns. Really. Good grief, Charlie Brown. 🙄 Well, at least the repubs have one talent (one their god-king perfected)- passing the responsibility/blame off to someone else.

John David's avatar

While the Republicans are setting fire to our Constitution and our govt.

John David's avatar

...the Democrats seem to be drowning.

Lynette Crain's avatar

Where are any Republicans with a backbone, Ed? And the Dems? I am so weary of civilized letters and calls with no response. It seems obvious the congressmen and senators are only paying attention to civil unrest. I will never be too old to participate if that is what it is going to take. I consider myself politically homeless as I watch to see which party corrects course and takes the helm for democracy.

I Resist's avatar

Streets, millions get going while we can!

Heather Wynne-Phillips's avatar

Yes! Where are they. I feel like our country is drowning and the lifeguards are just watching us go down!

Richard Breining's avatar

RINO Richard, soon to be a 'centrist' Democrat, agrees totally!

Lois W. Halbert's avatar

After 60 years, I left the Republican Party on January 6th. It is clear that they are a bunch of losers except those on the Committee.

John David's avatar

Ed, i’m sure you remember, in referencing his past affiliation with the Democratic party, Reagan said “I didn’t leave the Democratic party, The Democratic party left me.”. I a bit puzzled more Republicans weren’t willing to take Reagan’s words and apply it to their own relationship in the GOP.

Lois W. Halbert's avatar

Not only fierce but a leader we can be proud of.

Stephanie from NoVa's avatar

Trump better hope it’s not a thing to cancel pardons

Maria K.'s avatar

Because two can play this game. Don't we have some recently pardoned January 6th goons running around unattended?

Richard Breining's avatar

They should be rounded up and put back where they belong!

Sandra W Christie's avatar

Who exactly is going to round them up?

Richard Breining's avatar

Sadly, no one under this misAdministration.

LJ57's avatar

Like that term-and I might have to borrow “misAdministration”

Richard Breining's avatar

Or SCOTUS cancelling Presidential Immunity! (Who knows? Maybe even THEY will realize their grave mistake after witnessing him violate every law that doesn't suit him).

Dawnee's avatar

You can only wish. But sadly SCOTUS is under his thumb

Richard Breining's avatar

True, but they might not like being Constitutionally 'neutered' by trump totally ignoring their legal rulings, which I believe he will do if "push comes to shove"!

Tiffany Allegretti's avatar

trump is such a douchebag. Declaring pardons void? Ya that’s not a thing, orange idiot. No one is afraid of you, except for male Republican politicians.

Happy you are standing up to him Adam because that’s literally all it takes and he backs down. trump is the ultimate coward. 🙌🙌

Lenny Goldsmith's avatar

Is he EVER going to govern?

Richard Breining's avatar

Or bring down the cost of living for everyday Americans, as he promised?

John Kloc's avatar

He’s too busy seeing how much he can steal

Shoshana's avatar

I think this is where we fail. Time and time and time again with trump, nobody tells him No, nobody stops him. Nobody steps up in his face and says, you can't do this. He is never held accountable for his actions. Even the criminal ones - He has the titles- he's a felon, but again there's nothing that holds him to account, not ever. That's where the failings are. Anyone else would have been in jail a long time ago. And so he's given license to do as he wishes when he wishes time and time again. And weak as he is, he gets that. Nobody can stop me. Even on the f****** golf course, when he cheats, everyone smiles and lets him cheat.

Murray Barton's avatar

This is absolutely accurate and so critical.

We do not have a coordinated and effective method of challenging the utter nonsense. He is not ever held accountable because there is not a loud and consistent voice speaking against the lies. We need an official spokes group funded by the media, the opposing political parties, offended countries' media and others harmed by the insanity. Their only role is to truthfully without bias call out the absurdities he perpetuates. Why is this not happening? He is destroying lives and our system of government with his actions. Come on.

Enough with podcasts and individual editorial efforts. This needs, honest consolidated opposition.

Lucille Sanchez-corea's avatar

What bothers me is that somehow “America “ has lost its moral compass and the ability to discern objective truth.

michele's avatar

At least the 1/4 to 1/3 that listen to Fox News....it's hard to get someone under control when the opposition is playing on an endless loop over and over to assure people that the truth is a lie.....

LJ57's avatar

There is so much chaos that an organized response, right now, would be almost useless as the next chaos chapter would emerge before a response to the first chaos chapter had an effect.

What is needed is something very nimble that can adapt and, perhaps, learn to predict the next chaos chapter and be ready to defend against it.

Lynette Crain's avatar

I watched The Apprentice and saw how Trump learned to value of blackmail at the knee of Ray Cohn. Our children may one day learn of the extensive corruption he has used, but I doubt I personally will have the satisfaction of learning exactly what this Queens mobster holds over individual officials.

Shoshana's avatar

Trump doesn't hold anything over them. It's Musk- Musk has threatened every single Republican to primary them, with a million dollars to hand. The threat is they must do anything and everything that trump asks of them or they will be primaried. That's the kool-aid.

Richard Breining's avatar

This is absolutely correct and a perfect example of why the money needs to be taken out of politics! I don't know how political campaigns can best be funded, but I believe a new approach is desperately needed!

Charlie's avatar

I am SO tired of this cowardly excuse for Republican acquiescence that I could scream! Are there NO other employment opportunities in the entire U.S. that these people could do?! How do the rest of us manage to find gainful employment and feed our families? These people are perfectly okay with the rest of us living under a dictatorship so they can avoid “being primaried.” Our “normalization” of this lame excuse for their cowardice needs to end!

Shelley Riskin's avatar

Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth spoke to this gigantic Musk threat at an Illinois Democratic in-person event that I attended, 3 weeks into this nightmare administration. She said that there were 3 Republicans (unnamed) who told her they had every intention of voting NO to RFJ Jr. Until President Musk threatened to throw millions to their opponents in the primaries, as he's doing in Wisconsin. Lo and behold! Their "No" votes turned to "Yes" and here we all are, looking at the resurgence of measles, polio, and who knows what else......

Richard Joseph's avatar

It think you mean Roy Cohen, of the Joe McCarthy "Communist" blackball era of the 1950's. A despicable human. He taught tRump to lie like a champion!!

Sandra W Christie's avatar

And that is why all his bluster can't be waved away as empty threats.

John Kloc's avatar

Like any bully, he’ll keep at it until he gets a good punch in the nose

Mike Hammer's avatar

When I heard that Trump wanted the January 6th Select Committee to lose their pardons I first thought of you, Adam. I’m glad to hear you are handling this well. We’re with you all the.

Linda Rice's avatar

Taking my lead from you— stay strong! We stay strong when you stay strong— thanks for all your service and all you do!!

Shoshana's avatar

I will take it one step further. Why is it that nobody is holding trump to account? He has broken several laws gone against several judges.Rulings and yet there does not appear to be any accountability. As recently as Saturday, he put the flights out. Despite the judge's ruling no flights, please. Why was there no accountability? Why was not trump taken into custody? It was on his orders. There must be some mechanism that can do this.

Lenny Goldsmith's avatar

Sadly…not many much. Remember the impeachments…??

michele's avatar

he has no criminal liability for anything he does as president thanks to SCOTUS

Greg's avatar

Excellent retort, Adam!!! So well-said. Thank you.

Rand Babcock's avatar

I love this. I’m a life long democrat who would vote for you for president in a heartbeat. My question: At what point (if any) do you think Trump is going to precipitate a constitutional crisis? And do you feel the military would fall in line?

Rand Babcock's avatar

So how do you predict that will go down or be resolved? Do you feel like you can even comment on something so nebulous? (I’m sure it would depend on the specifics of the crisis). Will the military fall in line with Trump if they are called in for any reason? Is a military coup a possibility?

Kristin Beauchamp's avatar

Didn’t I just see that Ret. Gen. Michael Flynn has been brought into the fold. This gives me pause! I also read that there are private army/security ppl (Blackwater?) coming on board too-Scary 😱

Abmcgee's avatar

It is currently happening.

michele's avatar

As for the constitutional crisis - that may be happening in the short term: the wartime Alien Enemies Act of 1798 was largely intended to combat foreign espionage following the French Revolution. Trump used this law to deport alleged Venezuelan prison gang members in defiance of the US District Court for the DC Circuit judge's temporary injunction, ruling that these people could not be removed from the US and planes with these people on them had to turn around and bring them back to the US. The government did not turn the planes around in defiance of the court order. If the government ignores a valid and enforceable federal court order we are now into the realm of true constitutional crisis, as the executive branch is telling the judicial branch that it will not be governed by the courts.

Cathi Connelly's avatar

It appear the silence from the courts today leaves us exactly as you suggested-- in a constitutional crisis

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE

Patricia Mei's avatar

I would also like to know this. Seems SCOTUS, in giving him immunity and delaying lawsuits, is in his pocket. I am terrified.

deborah hennessy's avatar

If Trump hasn't triggered a constitutional crisis by now, he won't in the future. A constitutional crisis requires a response from somebody and as far as I can tell, there's nobody out there. Ground control to Major Tom...

Rand Babcock's avatar

For example (and I think a crisis would happen before this), Trump has floated the idea of a third term. If we still have a republican majority in congress and a complacent Supreme Court, this could definitely result in a constitutional crisis. Obviously people would be taking to the streets in a big way. The military would likely have to step in.

deborah hennessy's avatar

Oh god, don’t say that!

Cathi Connelly's avatar

Face it with the std’s this dude has had. ,,, he will dead before we need to worry about another term of the fool

Jeanne Schapp's avatar

Thank you Adam -- yes, Right On! I would love to see you and maybe Pete Buttigieg hold daily briefings - in the Capitol as Cheri Jacobus has been recommending for quite some time -- to fact check and be a counter, rapid response to the lies and evil actions Musk, tRump and this corrupt administration are taking. Millions in the streets will be necessary to excise this cancer, but people need to understand the problem, the stakes and the corruption we are subjected to.

Thank you again Adam for your service, your courage and willingness to take on the Orange Menace!

Richard Joseph's avatar

Jeanne Schapp, It's MUSKRAT & tRump I'll have you know! :-(

Adam, you are so right. He throws spaghetti on the wall to see what will stick. Then he backs down. He flip flops. He has no desire to lead, just to show off and stay out of jail.
