The No Kings march was large enough to get national media attention but it was forgotten by them in days. In order to make strides against the administration, civil disobedience should be ramped up quickly, but to make that happen we need people with a national presence who are trusted who can bring these groups together on a national scale to strategize, plan and act. For instance nationwide strikes would be very effective way to deal blows against Trump. For that resources are needed with knowledge in strike planning. Democratic aligned Unions could be those resources with the necessary knowledge. But I know of know one on the national stage who has stepped up to lead. Why not you?

Examples of these principles are
Tell the truth even when not politically expedient
Love your neighbor
Long term sustainability, biodiversity, and abundance for all
Control of our borders
Admit when we are wrong and the other side is right
The other party usually has some merit to its argument
Fiscal responsibility that reduces our debt
Once these are ironed out, have the public interact and do ranked choice voting for a priortized list.
Implementation: This party develops a long term vision of 50 years or more and uses AI to help develop policies based upon our principles that will get us to where we want to be.
Public input can also be used to come up with the vision.
This is a once in a century opportunity to change America and change the world for good.

My main point is that legitimate news channels have some sort of accountability and are expected to report facts and not blatantly lie. Infowars, podcasters, etc. are not held to any standard and are not credible sources for information, but people don’t seem to care.

As a school librarian for 40 years, I spent many, many hours teaching students (and teachers, especially the young ones!) how to find authoritative information online and in print. This was the mission of every librarian I knew over the years. Even my 3rd graders knew the word 'authoritative!' In my job before retiring, my library was closed at least 7 weeks out of the year for testing, wasting hours with "No Student Left Untested" or "No Teacher Left Standing," while what was crucially needed instead was time spent learning how to be discerning consumers of information. And yet, during those 40 years, I saw that the first staff to be let go by administrators were invariably librarians. Schools and public libraries have now also lost millions of dollars due to DOGE. Books are being challenged and banned at an unprecedented rate. So ignorance is flourishing This all adds to the utter disaster of lies and baseless allegations that are being treated as truth by a huge segment of society.

Third parties typically align themselves with more extreme positions of the Democratic or Republican party, think Ralph Nader or George Wallace. These can cause the two major parties to shift farther from the middle, but are rarely successful. A new third party based on shared principles from the best citizens from both major parties could change America for good. It could do what the Republican party did in the mid 1800s replacing the Whigs by choosing the principle of abolishing slavery. The key is to develop noble principles that Americans of good will can agree on, and then govern by these shared principles.
Examples of these principles are
Tell the truth even when not politically expedient
Love your neighbor
Long term sustainability, biodiversity, and abundance for all
Control of our borders
Admit when we are wrong and the other side is right
The other party usually has some merit to its argument
Fiscal responsibility that reduces our debt
Once these are ironed out, have the public interact and do ranked choice voting for a priortized list.
Implementation: This party develops a long term vision of 50 years or more and uses AI to help develop policies based upon our principles that will get us to where we want to be.
Public input can also be used to come up with the vision.
This is a once in a century opportunity to change America and change the world for good.

I'm against a third party. Remember Ralph Nader running for President? He split off enough votes to propel Bush into the White House rather than Al Gore. That could happen now as well---but we can't let it happen! Let's work with the political parties we already have, under the Dem "Big Tent;" find that leader we're all talking about, register more voters, keep getting millions more at our rallies, and continue filing an overwhelming number of lawsuits against this evil regime. As Arizona Atty General Mayes said, we need "the Courts, the Crowds, and Courage!"
You have a good point. There is a risk. However, I'd be willing to take the risk because the same old two party system is what led us here.
IF we build a vibrant and HUGE third party, maybe we can, at a MINIMUM, demand concessions, such as outlawing being able to take PAC money, or outlawing Congressional insider trading, or outlawing kidnapping migrants and detaining them in concentration camps!
Right now, neither party is leading the way to a better country. The Dems can't get it together and the Repubs are just plain evil. We don't owe either party anything! They both failed the country. They are both bought off. We know that.
I know a lot of people don't blame the Dems, but Biden WAS feeble and the Democratic Congress failed to strengthen Constitutional guardrails when they had a chance, when Project 2025 was openly posting their intent online! I saw it. What were they?
Maybe a third party could win. Maybe not. I'm not a politician or a political pundit, but I think we should at least consider the option.

Do you think the military will do the right thing in the case of unlawful orders of DJT and Stephen Miller? The National Guard in California are bending the knee and possibly the marines. There are also Marines in Florida interested in tortuous behavior. I am very concerned. Isn’t that unlawful as well?
I totally agree with you. 60% of the military voted for him. I have no faith that they will do the right thing--they haven't thus far. I truly believe they will fire on Americans. Something I could never ever imagine.

That could definitely happen. I organized a big student rally at my college after Kent State, and we marched around the campus, outraged. I don't have that kind of energy today, but do attend rallies, and I'm constantly either attending rallies or regularly contacting my electeds with thanks or issues. Thank goodness I live in a blue state (Illinois, who the Traitor- in -Chief is determined to destroy---but Governor Pritzker and others are standing up to him.

I 100% agree. I was actually mostly thinking of Fox News being sued by Dominion & settling for nearly $800 million. Because they lied and perpetuated that lie and conspiracy theory again and again.
My main point is that legitimate news channels have some sort of accountability and are expected to report facts and not blatantly lie. Infowars, podcasters, etc. are not held to any standard and are not credible sources for information, but people don’t seem to care.
I am just so sick of seeing all these people with these deeply held beliefs and mindsets that are not based in fact, at all. Thinking they know something that the media, even as far right as Fox News is, doesn’t know about or isn’t reporting on. It needs to be studied heavily how people fell into this pattern of thinking and how we can gain peoples’ trust back and get people out of these echo chambers.

As a school librarian for 40 years, I spent many, many hours teaching students (and teachers, especially the young ones!) how to find authoritative information online and in print. This was the mission of every librarian I knew over the years. Even my 3rd graders knew the word 'authoritative!' In my job before retiring, my library was closed at least 7 weeks out of the year for testing, wasting hours with "No Student Left Untested" or "No Teacher Left Standing," while what was crucially needed instead was time spent learning how to be discerning consumers of information. And yet, during those 40 years, I saw that the first staff to be let go by administrators were invariably librarians. Schools and public libraries have now also lost millions of dollars due to DOGE. Books are being challenged and banned at an unprecedented rate. So ignorance is flourishing This all adds to the utter disaster of lies and baseless allegations that are being treated as truth by a huge segment of society.

Maintaining hope is getting harder and harder. With each new Supreme Court Ruling, it gets more and more discouraging. It feels like there isn’t coordinated leadership on our side, and we are all desperate for that.
I know there are active duty military folks who don't agree with the bizarre orders they are getting, and I wonder if they have any power to stand up for their oath to protect the country against a dictator, without having to leave the service. I would like to hear your thoughts about this.
