Adam…your contacting us really is helpful.

Distraction, Distraction, and Distractions!!!! We should be talking about ICE, HSI, FBI and BORDER PATROL roughing up everybody that they come in contact with. Who are these people? What kind of person does this? I'll tell you, the SS and Brown Shirts of Nazi Germany. I hope their around when the "Corruption Trials" begin.

Judy's avatar

Also, using respect toward Trump all of the sudden with “President Trump” repeatedly has just burned holes in my eardrums. His unlawful strikes on Iran have not suddenly made him a respectable president. He’s still a lying, corrupt felon, rapist and grifter.

Gigi's avatar

And so far a very lucky s.o.b.

Katie V's avatar

Trump's "luck" cannot go on forever. He's going to crash and burn; it's time. Sooner than later, he is due. The whole invincible schtick is old and tired.

Doreen Dalesandro's avatar

I’ve been waiting too long for that to happen. Agent orange is the devil incarnate, so I feel he is precluded from crashing and burning ☹️

Joelle Greig's avatar

I agree. TACO does not deserve to be addressed as "President." He's a Felon first and foremost. Let us never forget this.

Jim Nowlen's avatar

Hope so. My gut feel is this isn't over.

Donna Dupont's avatar

I agree, even though I would love to believe it 😔

Doreen Dalesandro's avatar

I agree with you, Jim. Disclaimer: I am a diehard pessimist 🤓

I really appreciate Mr. Kinzinger. He has experience in the military and in Congress. So I want to believe him, but that damn pessimism gets in the way ☹️

Concerned Citizen's avatar

I want badly to believe this but I think it's just begun.

I don't lean towards belief in grand conspiracies, though they make fun reading on long plane rides. I also don't believe in sky fairies and gods. I've come to appreciate that the cultivation of trump as a Russian asset tells me I may be wrong about at least one grand conspiracy. It sure as hell won't be the first time I've been wrong.

I'm seventy; soon seventy one. If I'm wrong about the god thing I suppose I'll find out soon enough.

Darrell T's avatar

We need to concentrate on the real enemies. tRump, The GOP, ICE and the so called Supreme Court.

dB's avatar

I hope you are right, Adam. But I fear DT will try to keep it going.

Jacque DeWolf's avatar

yes now he says he wants regime change. He is bat shit crazy.

Hope you’re right

Dr. Iris St. John's avatar

If I were Donald Trump, i’d hire a few extra bodyguards.

Robot Bender's avatar

You may feel that way, but broadcasting it isn't a good idea.

Joelle Greig's avatar

We're long past that. Many have readily vocalized their thoughts of what they wish would happen to him. I, personally, wish he would drop from an MI. A Myocardial Infarction. In layman's vocab, a heart attack. Its well-known that his diet is sub-par. Loads of fast food, he's constantly throwing temper tantrums, and he's on cholesterol meds. The hallmarks of heart attack and stroke. Lastly, he seems to be falling asleep at important functions and meetings.

Dr. Iris St. John's avatar

Believe me, I understand. However, I’ve noticed that the President has lost weight and is probably on one of the new weight loss drugs. Moreover, his gait and balance have clearly improved, too, which suggests his physician has him on statins. Sigh.

Richard Breining's avatar

Maybe I am wrong, but I think Dr. St. John is referring to the possibility that an Iranian hit squad might be sent for trump. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Doreen Dalesandro's avatar

I prefer he doesn’t 🤨

Go Buckeyes!'s avatar

Adam, thank you for clarifying about the Congress thing. If he only notified one party, he’s still playing Divided States of America.

I still stay concerned that Iran doesn’t get some terrorist attacks going on our soil.

However, my biggest concern is how our regime reacts to this retaliation you described. They never do what everyone thinks should be our usual response.

Finally, I find Chris Murphy very levelheaded and appreciate this writeup from him and thought I would share in case you didn’t see it.

This resonated with me (from Chris Murphy’s substack), as among the issues is the historical experience in the creation and recruiting of various violent militias who will undoubtedly recruit the future angry, hopeless and disaffected in the ME. My academic work included research into the genesis of terrorism in the 20th century. Einstein had wise words on the definition of insanity and we need the wise pundits to guide us to evidence-based sane behavior.

“There is an industry in Washington that profits from war, and so it’s no surprise that the merits of conflict are dangerously overhyped and the risks are regularly underestimated. I represent several major defense companies in Connecticut, and I’m proud of their commitment to our nation and the products they make. But there is just no doubt that when there is a $300 billion industry that makes its money off of war, there is a ready chorus of support when a conflict looms. Many of the talking heads you see on television are paid by this industry. And as capable as our military can be, political leaders too often let their can-do ethic get in the way of the true risks of overseas engagement. Their myopia on narrow terms of tactical military success blurs out the broader political and social context in the region and ignores the costs of wars in far off places. The war industry needs conflict to justify its existence – and the annual bloated defense budget. So it is often willfully ignorant of the risks.”

As Eisenhower said "Beware of the military industrial complex" (If you can locate the 2005 documenary "Why we fight" I highly recommend watching it)

Georgia Mangan's avatar

Thanks, Megan for sharing this link in your comment. I hadn't seen it. I agree with what you said about the MAGA regime in power right now...they have never done what sane people would do in any situation.

A R's avatar

I sure hope so. I don’t think we’ve got a good position for anything else, considering the polls are mostly against TACO. (Yeah! Humanity wins one.)

Cheryl's avatar

Thank you for explaining about the War Powers act. I thought he needed to have Congress approval. Also I hope you’re correct about Iran’s response.

Doreen Dalesandro's avatar

I thought he needed Congress’ approval, too. Why does everything in government have to be so muddy 🧐

Cheryl's avatar

I think it’s muddy because neither side wants to tell us the total truth. They each leave out information that would help us understand what is actually happening. I trust Adam is telling us the truth as he sees it. I have to have faith in someone and gives me a plan to look up more information.

Cheryl Moshiri's avatar

I am all for a strategic strike when there is imminent danger to the United States. The problem is he’s only listening to Netanyahu and not our own intelligence. Bebe has been trying for 35 years to get us to do this, Trump was the only one dumb enough to do it. This is about polls and “ratings”. No one is talking about the bill, Elon, Epstein or Ice raids now.

Cheryl Moshiri's avatar

Vance’s saying we’ve had “dumb” presidents making these decisions - OMG they always broadcast exactly what they’re guilty of.

Ed's avatar

This is going to give Trump an unimpeded path to passing the Big Beautiful Bill and even more ignoring of the Constitution,

Cheryl Moshiri's avatar

Agreed and somewhere down the road we will find out it was bad “intelligence”. My husband is from Iran and fled that regime. They’re no dummies, anything that was enriched has been moved after Israel bombed earlier this year.

Margaret Cruickshank's avatar

Isreali intelligence had evidence the enriched uranium and the centrifuges had been moved before the bombings according to the NYT. Also, according to the UN spokesperson, the IAEA measured no increase in radiation afterward in the areas that were bombed.

Mandy S. Twiny's avatar

I feel the same. Netanyahu is yet another tyrant who knows how to push Trumpalumpagus’ buttons.

Cheryl Moshiri's avatar

Of course! The ego stroking post bombing was vomit inducing. And it’s so obvious that’s how you get him to do and agree to anything.

Mandy S. Twiny's avatar

I can’t get over Heg’s statement. Stroke, stroke…

Doreen Dalesandro's avatar

I’ve said this a number of times already. I think one of the reasons agent orange wanted to bomb Iran is because, in his alternate reality, he believes he saved the world from nuclear destruction and would therefore be a shoo-in for the peace prize. I know it sounds absurd, but look who we’re talking about. He has been especially vocal very recently about the prize, boohooing that he should have gotten it 4 or 5 times already. He cries that it doesn’t matter what he does, they’ll never give him the prize😭 Poor wittle donny. I’m not saying that’s the only reason, but I sure feel Mr. King-of-all-narcissists had that in mind.

Cheryl Moshiri's avatar

I know! It’s so pathetic! I’ve got a news flash for him : People who get the Peace Prize don’t go around whining about not getting it or campaigning that they deserve one. People who deserve the award are too busy unselfishly making the world better. That just doesn’t compute in that tiny quid pro quo driven brain of his.

Doreen Dalesandro's avatar

In 2013, he also ranted about having Obama's prize rescinded. What a piece of crap that man is, he is Satan incarnate. I'd like to punch in the face every single person who voted for him😠

Darrell T's avatar

I hope you're right.

Adam, thank you for updating us on this event. I appreciate hearing your take since you include info I have not heard from other sources, as well as your insights from serving as a legislator.

As you said, you wish it had been a “different team,” and for me that’s the biggest sticking point. I have no trust in anything done by this very secretive, bumbling, one-sided administration because of the chaos and division they sow.

Unfortunately, many of us still recall the neocon’s ill-advised march to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and I lost a beloved family member over there in 2003. Being mired in the Middle East, using our military men and women as expendable pawns, cannot happen again. I hope your assessment that this is a limited engagement is correct. Thanks again for the update.

From a very old WWII bleachers view..

War is an old man's folly....but it's the young men ( and now...women ) who die.

Personally I find the very thought of any of my great grandchildren putting their lives on.the line for the likes of a malignant narcissist...self absorbed fascist... mendacious greed-driven lunatic like Donald trump...repulsive... beyond the pale!

" Don't ask of of others what you would not ask...and DO yourself!"

Old " BONESPURS " ...a craven coward...humiliating himself....the office he " takes up space in....and this beloved country. ... a consumate failure in everything he's turned his hand to in life. NO...A THOUSAND TIMES NO!
