Our elected officials are more to blame for their divisive speech from their bully pulpits. Those are simply accurate descriptions of the situation as it is and must be stated loudly, clearly and often. When he stops promising to dismantle our Democracy and when he stops with the Nazi vitriol, those criticisms will stop. It’s like Putin criticizing the Ukrainian army for resisting his soldiers. There's a world of difference between calling him out for being a dictator in waiting and for replicating the fascist/Hitler playbook and how he explicitly incites physical violence in his cult. I wholeheartedly agree. Sunday’s sermon at my little progressive church was on James 3:1-12, basically all about the damage words can do. It was timely, and I am personally trying to manage my own rhetoric. That’s where we all need to start.

Trump/Vance can spew anything they like against anyone they choose -- I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT! (Trump, 9-15-24), Haitian "illegal" immigrants (in Springfield, OH) are eating the dogs; they're eating the cats! (Trump, 9-10-24). That's First Amendment protected FREE CAMPAIGN SPEECH. The Republican ticket does not believe, and never has, that the rules of law or civility apply to them (see ANC Section 60 desecration, for example). Democrats are expected to self-muzzle to give Trump/Vance a free pass. Sorry, dudes. Not going to happen. The facts and the truth will set us free from you both on Nov. 5!
Tired, tired, tired. Trying not to watch news stations as much right now. It’s all too much. I come on this site to hear what Adam has to say and others’ replies to get a sense of sanity. I miss Walter Cronkite with the news and only the news. It’s all just so tiring so I’m back to my knitting and enjoying the day. I will vote and place my faith in my fellow Americans to do so as well. This violence and hate must stop and sooner than later.

This applies to the lying about Haitian immigrants eating pets and stealing geese from local parks. These lies have created havoc in Springfield. I have to think they are the direct cause of the continuing bomb threats in that community. Shame on Trump and Vance for perpetuating these lies. If no one dies as a result of this BS, I will be amazed.
