Thank you Adam very very much. Your particular perspective and viewpoint can really help folks to shake it off and stay dedicated until we recover this Country in November. Carry on, this is the big one.

True story!

The rule of law is what allows me to live at 72 years of age. To have a large part of our government disregard and disparage the rule of law is very disturbing. 80 years ago Americans were storming Normandy. These MAGA people spit on those Americans that fought to defeat Nazi Germany and Japan.

If the rule of law no longer applies, we can all live in fear. I refuse to accept that. Third World Country? It would be if Trump is Dictator for life. I have faith in my fellow Americans. We will never allow that to happen.

All of the "true" Republicans left are ones who have already left office. You, Adam, and Liz Cheney, Fred Upton, Speaker Boehner, Governor Kasich, and others like that. And that's just sad that the Republican Party has become so crazy that many of the true ones have either been driven out of office by their voters, or have decided they couldn't handle it anymore because it was too crazy. Or, some were just ready to leave office for other reasons. But either way, the majority of the Republicans still in office, probably 99% of them, (with the exception of Senator Murkowski), are pro-Trump far-right Republicans. It's just sad, very sad. I wish there were still elected Republicans who were like some of the people I mentioned. November will be a huge test for us, and I know that I will be doing my part in this election. Thank you, Adam, for telling us how it is, even when it's sad to hear.

While everyone here is engaged, there are plenty of people fully checked out and sleepwalking toward autocracy. This election could be easily decided in favor of democracy if younger people vote. Too often we end up hyper focused on a singular issue or are simply too busy with daily life to see what is truly at stake.

Younger people have the most to lose. Climate change, a functioning democracy, women's rights, racial equality, quality public education free of theocracy and more are hanging in the balance.

When the time is right, as we get closer to the election, talk to every young person you know and encourage them to vote.

Expand full comment

Let me add that they definitely need encouragement to not only vote, but to vote for Biden. Many were too young to be paying attention when Trump was in office and can't be bothered to look at who he is now.

Absolutely agree, Steve.

I think that Trump WANTED a guilty verdict—it plays into his cult of victimhood and it allows him to play martyr. And, he is fundraising up a storm because of it.

Expand full comment

Yes he is. The Trump Spam fundraising texts went through a lull in the past few weeks but have roared back since the verdict. I don't open them and I don't block the phone numbers that sent them anymore because they apparently have more phone numbers than I could possibly block. At one time this spring I had >350 blocked numbers in my list. These numbers cannot be deleted in bulk. They must be deleted one by one which is very time consuming. I just delete these spam texts when they arrive. It's a shame that federal law allows political texts because it is allowing this crook to scam too many people that get tricked by these texts. And they are a PITA to get in the first place. Trump and Co. Are masters at using and abusing the right to Free Speech.

Thank you, Adam for this powerful message!

I hope you are taking care of yourself because you are a major lead in our democratic fight!

I think during this court case, we have forgotten that Trump's company was also found guilty of his impropriety! He and his heir apparents aren't even running it now!

When you are on CNN tonight, would you please talk to someone about how they are now allowing Trump's VP hopefuls to spew their prewritten propaganda lies without any fact checking? I am SO disappointed!

Also, John Kasich was one of the first RINOs!

Thank you and God bless!

John Kasich and John Boehner were two of the earlier RINO's. Kasich didn't go to the Republican Convention in 2016, and he endorsed Biden in 2020. Boehner, to some far-right members, was "too soft" on Democrats, just because he's a Reagan Republican and believed in bipartisanship. And now many Republicans don't like either of them because they both have called Trump out after January 6. It's so sad that telling the truth now makes you a RINO. And those former leaders are not known to lie just to survive in politics. Of course, there are so many other examples, like Liz Cheney and others, but I feel like they were some of the first ones to get the title of RINO, and now you don't hear a whole lot from either of them. And whenever they do say something, the comments to their tweets are just awful, no matter what the topic is.

Completely and totally agree. It’s a difficult position to be in. He’s invited and so it’s touchy to criticize the ones that invite you. People have to understand that. Corporate news media have their own agenda.

History will not be kind to this Republican Party. I’m glad Trump was held accountable. Unfortunately, he raised $34 million following his guilty verdicts. What does that say about some of our fellow Americans? I recently read /heard that Trump is a vessel for peoples anger and fear. That is what we need to address…the root cause that allowed this demagogue to rise to power. The question is how?

Trump can dump all the money into the bottomless pit; aka, his legal fees. The down ballot republicans are on their own.

Where’s the proof that he raised that much. If he’ll lie about his crowd sizes, he’ll lie about donations too.

Thanks for the encouragement. From my judicial perspective, I am so incensed at the name-calling against the third co-equal branch of government, the Judiciary. As you said, we are all human and make mistakes, but this trial was done according to the book! Excellent attorneys on all sides passionately arguing their positions in front of jurors who they accepted in front of a otherwise well-respected judge. Folks, this is how the system has always worked. We can all disagree with outcomes, but process well done gives usually excellent results. Thank you CONGRESSMAN (yes, we live by identities.....)

The GOP is dead. It's now the MAGA cult buoyed by corruption and conspiracy theories. We must not hate our fellow Americans who support it because they are being lied to by their leaders and propaganda press. These are dark days in America, but we must be brave and believe in and strive for the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you Adam for your light. You are a man of courage and integrity.

I fear the Judicial System is being eroded from the top down. When our Supreme Court Justices can't keep politics out of their decisions, we are in real, real big trouble!

Expand full comment

Exactly. I've called for Thomas and Alito to be impeached because of their open support of the 'stolen election' fallacy and their unconscionable acceptance of lavish trips and gifts from wealthy friends who often need decisions in their favor on SCOTUS cases. Not to mention their refusal to recuse themselves in cases related to Trump due to conflict of interest. So far I have not seen this behavior from other SCOTUS Justices regardless of party but any SCOTUS Justice who is shown to behave this way deserves the same.
