"Tyranny Is On Our Doorsteps" Trump,Vance and Musk are questioning the authority of the courts.

"WE NEED A LEADER" We need some courageous person to step forward and take over this rudderless ship. "WE NEED A OPPOSITION LEADER" before it's to late!!!

HOW WE FIGHT BACK:

1. Protest till the cows come home, look for protest in your area, then all able bodied people should show up!!!!

2. Boycott as many companies as you can that are supporting the Fascist Party through their political donations. Never buy a Tesla, stop using X/Twitter for starters. I have a updated list of companies in this episode. Use https://www.goodsuniteus.com/ to make your own list.

3. E-mail/message any Republican Senator or Congressman that you think has a resemblance of a backbone and tell him how you feel about these important issues.

4. If you can afford it donate to the organizations that are doing the legal fights.

5. I hope we never have to get to this option because it's the worst option of all, which I won't mention here. "Freedom Isn't Free" Vietnam Veteran

The protest are starting to form by "We The People" but we are going to need help from our Senators and Congressman. One protestors sign said "Democracy Is not a Spectators Sport" I have to agree!!! https://bsky.app/profile/50501movement.bsky.social

All the Democratic Senators and Congressman should be organizing a protest to be held in their individual State Capitals using their constituents as the voice of the people. The dates may vary for each state and the weather has to be a consideration. These Representatives need to march with the people and show a sign of unity. Sitting around and voting yes or no is not going to cut it right now. The impact could be tremendous.

This message should to be sent to our representatives to enlighten them!

A majority of these companies donations are going to the Trump/MAGA/Fascist Party. We need to fight back by boycotting these companies whenever it is possible. A "National Boycott" is really needed!!!! Boycott Tesla, X/Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, Amazon/Amazon Prime, Whole Foods and Zappos, Apple Computer/Apple TV, TikTok, Google, Fitbit and Nest. All the Companies above who's Founders or CEO's attended the inauguration with a front row seat!!!

Elon Musk is a criminal and I want Congress to do something about it. He’s engaging in industrial espionage via theft of proprietary technology paid for and belonging to the American public. He is violating privacy laws by stealing the private financial and personal information of every American. He is violating national security laws by accessing top secret documents without a security clearance.

Musk has no loyalty to the United States or to the American people. He’s using his position for personal financial gain. He has substantial conflicts of interest because of his business with foreign governments, especially China.

Musk is about to do to the federal government what he did to X—a company that has lost 75% of its value since he took over. Unless Congress gets him out of our government now, our country will meet the same fate and every member of Congress who failed to act will bear the blame for it. Stop Musk’s crime spree now. Thanks.

Let’s just hope there will be some pieces to pick up - in the aftermath .

I’m not so sure that just picking up pieces is going to cut it . The rest of the world is skeptical of continuing to use the $ as the reserve currency of the world. We took over from the British Pound Sterling right after WWII because we had the strongest economy and our infrastructure had not been decimated by the bombs .

Now we are facing a challenge from the BRICS

- with Indonesia and others clamoring to join up.

They represent some of the highest growth potential in the world. The economy of Musk

represents fear & weakness. Furloughs have hit members of our extended family- soon you’re going to know people that lost their jobs as well . A strong and resilient middle class was the engine of prosperity in the USA for decades after the war . Sad to see so many kissing it goodbye.

I'm a 1960's person, where are the Universities today? Have they no fight in them?

Expand full comment

They do. They have protested for gun restrictions and safe schools. They have protested for environmental protections. They protested against police brutality. They protested against the indiscriminate killing of innocent women and children in a brutal war. - I think this new issue, the threat to democracy- the young people will step up but we have to lead the way. They may not see it as a direct threat to them the way the other issues do. Also going forward we need to elect those who will change the status quo and encourage those in power now to do so.

Lol. If you can afford college now, you don't have the luxury of being a protesting hippie. That's the joke. The boomers got the first guaranteed childhood, the most affordable education, and the generational size to make a difference. To be fair, no one expected the same number of boomers to go to college and still be successful, so add the pressure of performing beyond any previous generation to the woes of young people today, while still being called lazy and stupid, despite being the best educated generation to-date. Lol. Expecting college kids to do the heavy lifting is like expecting the maid to pay the mortgage. I'm sorry for being sarcastic, but we broke this, we shouldn't be expecting the kids to fix it.

Expand full comment

I think that's a misnomer that 'boomers' got a guaranteed childhood. Many had to work their way though college. It was the first time women and people of color were finally being admitted to college. They protested on campus mostly regarding the draft. Students were killed by the President when they protested. Off campus there were protests throughout the country for civil rights, worker's rights, women's rights and gay rights and every time a leader was assassinated. Their efforts paid off. A more diverse group of young people today have more opportunities because of the boomers efforts. They are now old and still fighting but cannot do what they did 50 years ago. It is disheartening to see everything they accomplished rolled back in one sweep. They are hoping the young people will continue the fight. And many are- They have protested for gun restrictions and safe schools. They have protested for environmental protections. They protested against police brutality. They protested against the indiscriminate killing of innocent women and children in a brutal war. - I think this new issue, the threat to democracy- the young people will step up but we have to lead the way. And we need to elect those who will change the status quo and encourage those in power now to do so.

Amen to that! There is a lot of resentment toward boomers over the years especially blaming us for the Social Securities problems. I think their just jealous of the great music that was created back then. It was the best!!!

Expand full comment

and that music is still relevant today!

Expand full comment

The boomers got the first guaranteed childhood? Really! Being a Vietnam Vet who was 18 and got drafted, that statement you made wasn't very well thought out. Vietnam was a game changer for many young people and their families. If it wasn't for the protesters we would have never gotten out of the war. So you can make all the excuses you want about why the young people today don't have the time to express their feelings about government issues. It's their future and by being the most informed generation they should get off their phones and start showing some interest in their country. They don't have to fix it they just have to earn their allowance! Lol

Expand full comment

The context is completely different today than it was then. TV was probably more important than the protests themselves. Showing those caskets. Showing the protests. There are protests today on campuses, but the media is different. The circumstances are different. I never said that the Boomers didn't get the shaft from the draft or that the protests weren't important. But the memory of the events are more romantic than the events at the time. The Vietnam war technically began in 1955, yet the early campus protests weren't till 1962 and the first significant organized protests weren't till 1964. The biggest protests didn't start till 1967, when thousands of American soldiers had been killed. So far, there's no draft killing young Americans. They DID protest the killing of Gazans. Without a draft or American soldiers on the line. What, exactly do you expect in this timeline? Prescience? This is a slow, bloodless coup (so far). The frog is being boiled and you're blaming it for not jumping out of the pot when it took years for previous frogs to sense a change in temperature, even with more obvious consequences.

I agree. I still think that passing a psychological test should be a requirement as well. I had to take a 500 question psychological exam and a full background check in order to get cleared for Unescorted Access into nuclear power plants. Shouldn't the person capable of ordering the launch of America's nuclear missiles be required to meet the same stringent requirements?

Much like Hitler at the beginning of WWII, Trump is relying on a blitzkrieg to roll over the, “deep state” and our constitution. Poland took 26 days, France, six weeks. It was all going well for Hitler early on. Times were dark but as time passed, the allies coalesced and a united front turned the tide. So it will be with Trump. Lawsuits are already being filed, and a resistance is forming across the country. It will take time but Trump’s foolish actions will insure it gathers strength. America has been through much worse than Trump and his rich lickspittles can dish out. This is just the beginning of a long fight. There is no time for handwringing or despair. This is the time to organize a political counteroffensive using every legal means necessary. We are still a country of laws. We have free speech and the right to demonstrate peacefully. Resistance to Trump’s affront to democracy can be done. It must be done. It will be done.

Speaking of stories, any updates on, The Last Republican? I'm really eager to see it!

Expand full comment

While we're speaking truth to power, I agree that tfg has purged the GOP of the last remaining decent people. However, it was a long time coming. Tfg is a symptom, not a cause, if the current state of the party. I'm not saying that Democrats have no responsibility, but the fault is not equal. Boehner and Cantor were part of the problem. Just because they were socially aware doesn't mean they weren't complicit in the downfall of the American Republic, not to mention the enshitification of the Republican party. The idea that Reagan was a saint was merely romanticizing the beginnings of a very real long term plan to dumb down America and last the foundation of the conservative Christian coalition, and the establishment of a culture war. It necessarily led to this. Every opinion having the weight of fact and the destruction of expertise. The stupidest rich, white men on the planet are running the richest, most diverse, and oldest democracy in the world into the ground. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I would not be surprised if Russia doesn't take advantage of this 50 year lapse in judgement to finish off Ukraine and start with their next nearest neighbor to the east. Us. We'll be lucky if we survive this. And it's important for everyone to understand the role they played instead of pointing to the minority party and asking where they are. The majority needs to start doing something. They have the power.

I think in hindsight you are somewhat right, but keep in mind many of us were fighting the slide from day one, we just thought we could win

I get it. I've said before that you are the type of Republican I grew up with and could absolutely respect. Of course, by the time you were elected to Congress, such Republicans were functionally extinct. Sure, they (you) existed, but like the northern white rhino (unfortunate pun inevitable) saving them would require a literal miracle. Unlike the northern white rhino, however, you had the ability to recognize the reality of the situation. You did the right thing when the time came, so you remain both honorable and heroic. But you had people who elected you. Who believed in you. Who could have been brought with you before the train plunged from the cliff. How do we get them back now? It's easy to point to the Dems, but what they failed at is messaging, not governance. The Republicans failed at governance, and succeeded at messaging. Can you bring the messaging and the governance together? Because I'm certain that pointing to the lack of messaging by the Dems isn't going to help. We already knew they weren't good at that. That doesn't mean that they can't continue to do the governance. You, and other honorable former Republicans, can bring the messaging you the governance.

By the way, thank you for reading my comment and responding in good faith. I appreciate you. And I hope you continue to succeed. We are nearly the same age, and there's so much ahead of us, yet so much history behind us. Maybe it's a sunk cost fallacy to be desperate to save this country, but I am desperate. As a GenX, I feel like we've been so patient and faithful to this country to bloom into its best self while we were invisible between the Boomers and Millennials. We watched School House Rock and we took civics classes. We lived both the bad old days (even if we forget that our childhood were so much more dangerous than today's) and a future where we literally have super computers in our pockets every day. Even though we didn't have to worry about being shot in school, we lived with plenty of normalized sexism and racism, so seeing us slide back 40 years is so heartbreaking. We put up and shut up, and worked to make things better. And everyone forgot how bad it was. So... They're bringing back the bad old days. Are we so depressed as a nation that we have to cut ourselves to feel anything? Because that's what it feels like.

Who actually believes they haven’t changed passwords and payment codes? There are literally the latest generation tech reps running free in all our most private files. Anyone here not understand once you kick out/lock out US employees that are actually working to protect us that they are not getting back in??? Or that it could take years to discover the Trojan Horses installed, or the money siphoning directions hidden in some distant corner of our programming? And the election engineering code was already written before they took office. Am I just a cynic? Nope. I’m married to a man that worked in high tech for 50 years. I don't usually write in comment sections, but I am actually very sad right now and sharing what I believe (or know) is helping. I am actually a very optimistic person but when I heard they had broken into our Treasury system (I don't care if they claim it's "read only" hahaha) and no one called the calvary, I knew we were done. It's really quite amazing - if I were to go into someone else's most personal data files without their permission: their social security info, bank info, tax records, etc., I could go to jail! So, no, I did not give the president permission to give my files to another person to peruse and use.

The first two examples in your story represent an egotistical young man. That young man listened and thought deeper to become an honest, credible, country first leader. Trouble seems, the numbers of MAGA supporters are all ego, all self interested, all spineless. None of us is perfect but some of the congress, probably most, are in for the fame (if there is any), the perks, the sound bites. Ego driven yet spineless, they deny that the emperor has no clothes. In reality, his attire and that of his co-president are adorned in lies, chaos, and self serving greed while congress lets it continue.

What will change the minds of the 77 million who voted for trump? What will it take to get the 85 million who did not vote to care about what is happening? The problem is not just the blind devotion of trumps "pod people" it is the apathy of the 85 million voters who did not participate in the election. Some people said the insurrection prohibition in the 14th Amendment was self executing. Nothing in the constitution or law is self executing it depends on the will of the people. the Eighteenth Amendment failed and was repealed by the twenty first Amendment because it was not supported by the people. If 67% of people are not willing to defend democracy, that is the problem. The fight is not in Washington DC it is in the hearts and minds of the people in all 50 states.
