You are a good man, Adam Kinzinger. Thank you very much for your service to our country and for bringing to light the young man who was killed. I was deeply moved, listening to your story. Your tribute to the men you knew who didn’t come back was heartfelt.

Thank you Adam. Your perspective helps me to understand, as do the words of Abraham Lincoln.

The Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln resonates today as it did in 1863.

Delivered at Gettysburg, Pa.,Nov. 19th 1863. “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceivedin liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. “Now we are engagedin a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, canlong endure. Hello Adam.

A slow hand salute from an old mud Marine who served at Khe Sanh, and elsewhere to you and all our broihers and sisters in every generation who have gone before. That ridiculous orange-colored buffon and petty tyrant-in-waiting may well ask "What was in it for them?"

Transactiional SOBs like him truly will never understand people like us. Perhaps we are the "suckers and losers" he brands us privately (coward that he and his kind are). We fight the wars he and his kind of the so-called elites and "ruling" class "trump" up time and again. But as another man who served (albeit briefly), the late Jimi Hendrix once said, "There will never be peace until the power of love overcomes the love of power." True enough.

I am not a theist, but the words of a follower of John Wyclif (now sp. Wycliffe), John Ball ring true;

Whan Adam dalf, and Eue span,

Wo was thanne a gentilman?

[When Adam delved (in the soil), and Eve spun,

Who was then a gentleman?]

As a non-theist, I agree. We would need no governments or wars if all practiced the Golden Rule most major and minor faiths preach (though few of their adherents follow). The gent whose teachings you follow, Yehoshua, a rather radical rabbi from Nazareth once responded to a question on what was the greatest commandment. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.”

Too bad so many of his so-called followers (like the brain-dead "evangelicals" of his cult) don't actually practice it. (Present company excepted - you and folks like you"walk the walk.")

The arrogant spectacle of the out of office Trump injecting himself into American foreign policy through Mike Johnson and causing serious setbacks in Ukraine has been an unwelcome education for most of us, Adam. Your clarity in exposing earlier serious misdeeds by Trump and his ilk has done great service in helping prepare the American people for the elections later in the year. Keep going and thanks!

Thank you, Adam, for your Memorial Day message…..it gave me goosebumps. Having served in the Army during the Cold War, I never was faced with a deployment to a conflict. One of my daughters did serve in Iraq and I remember all the prayers that were said for her safe return. Our prayers were answered, but I know many, many more were not. For those who gave up their lives, to keep us free, I salute them and the families they left behind. 🇺🇸💔
