I so agree. I would suggest that the last-straw for Biden was the prospect of Kash Patel exacting revenge on the Biden family by way of Hunter. He could see the future and knew something had to be done. It doesn't look good when you look at precedent. But we are less that two months away from all the rules changing. No ethics precedents will be guiding these departments. None. So there is no way to trust the process. And that, to me, is why Biden acted on this.

We should be talking about this truth. All the precedent stuff is noise when we are looking at the prospect of an FBI and CIA and DOJ that resemble the era of the 60s. JFK. RFK. MLK — would like a word.

yes, once the next "one" put Patel in there--it would be negiligence as a man and father and human being, to not protect his son. When trump is swimming in a sea of insanity, if there anything to deploy against this-one has to use it. These are not normal times.

While you are most likely right about DOJ ethics being shunted aside under Bondi, the DOJ lawyers still have to obey the ethics standards of their relevant state bar governing bodies. All DOJ lawyers must be admitted to practice before the highest court of a state. Some of the state bar disciplinary bodies can be quite aggressive in enforcing their ethics codes.

I agree--all public servants and even LinkedIN cheerleaders may, for the first time in their professional careers, make an ethical choice. I've noticed many cannot. When they are aligned (sort of) with a moral cause---Sure, it all works out. when they are putting jews on Boxcars to auswitchz, our career functionaries will become confused as what to say on LinkedIN. Life ain't always easy. I already see the fascist writing on the wall. I don't need to be hit over the head. I am sure in other days I'd be in a gulag.

I saw a documentary called "Ordinary People" were it talked about plumbers, carpenters, shoemakers, etc, etc, etc all participating in helping the nazi's round up the Jews and putting them in boxcars. You can either fight them or join them or run. That will be the choice Americans will have to make!

I agree... Biden needs to use this power while he has it. It's hard to believe that this is the point to which we have reached, but it's reality. I am very encouraged by you remaining unafraid!

Joe should be issuing pardons for all on Trumps list!

Do we really think Trump would abide by any pardon from Biden? I am sure that Comer and all the trumplings will make the Bidens’ life miserable even if there aren’t any legal charges.

Possibly & using tax payer dollars to fund extraneous frivolous pursuits.

If Joe doesn't his legacy will be disgraceful.

I would have been much more disappointed had Biden not pardoned Hunter. The pursuit of Hunter was purely intended for political theater - who doesn’t know that? And I’m certain Biden will continue to use his pardon pen as previously presidents have done. I am hoping that this is just the beginning of Biden plainly speaking about the dangers of the incoming gang of goofs and goes further by not attending the orange one’s inauguration. That will be insanity.

Will the military, FBI, etc. do Trump's bidding and move against the people? Will they allow our country to become a 3rd world police state? I've been deeply concerned about former military members, some of them high-ranking, that were heavily involved in the J6 insurrection. I have wondered how many active duty military are gun-ho for Trump and his authoritarian plans.

As for Biden pardoning his son, well, I'm 100% on board with that decision. I hope he continues to pardon others that, including himself, could be in Trump's retribution cross hairs. It's time to BEAT the MAGA Party at their own bullshit game.

I’m totally sick of it all. I hated that Biden had to take the step of pardoning his son, but I do not blame him. Why should Hunter have to fall on the sword. I’m sick of the Democrats turning the other cheek and trying to “set the example” and “do the right thing.” It does not impress these MAGA haters and never will. We all know Trump will be handing out pardons right and left to criminals and his cronies. Trump is a thief, a cheat, a con man…just a low-life POS. I’m in my mid-60’s. I’m not too worried about myself. The younger generation is going to pay dearly for their MAGA parents’ choices. It’s just too bad innocent people will suffer from the influence of this evil man.

You are so right about the Dems doing the right thing and trying to set an example. I appreciate what they are trying to do, but the MAGAs don't care. I suspect they are laughing about it. They seem to value ruthlessness... not morality or ethics.

Exactly, Aletha. It’s always “take the high road.” Well, enough is enough. Give them a dose of their own medicine.

Of course Huner had to be pardoned--I don't understand the technicalities of a pardon, but I am assuming it includes those additional witch hunts with the new admin---less about a sentencing for the previous "crimes." I could be wrong, but that was my sense. You are dealing with an enemy who has no good faith intentions and will destroy everything in their way.

Totally on board for preemptive pardons. What can we do to encourage Biden to neutralize Trump’s revenge?

Write to him and tell him what you think.

Thanks for prompting me into action, Aletha. While I have little faith in being heard, I wrote as you suggested! Here’s the link for anyone else who is interested. https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

That's great, Lynette. You never know what might get through. Plus, if he hears the same from a lot of people, it might just make a difference.

I’m not a Hunter Biden fan, but no one deserves to be tortured by the FBI IT help desk (Kash Patel)

President Biden should use the preemptive pardons for those targeted by the president-elect. This is a necessary step to prevent and protect people who were doing their jobs in as elected officials, their families, appointed officials and employees, and others. Revenge is not acceptable to the form of government in the United States. I don’t want to go back to the McCarthy era and other eras where citizens of the United States were mistreated at the hands of anyone who decided they were against them without following the rule of law.

Adam, I know you won’t back down and I hope others won’t either. I am seventy six years old and I am still going and growing. I don’t want to leave the country because it’s my home. I want to leave the country safer for my children and grandchildren (yes, I have adult children and grandchildren).

I know I am not alone in this.

Thanks Adam. I have mixed feelings over the Hunter Biden pardon. But I appreciate you being clear eyed and practical about Joe Biden protecting others who may be subject to Trump’s revenge tour instead of hyperventilating over norms.

I agee with you about pardoning his son when he said he wouldn't--he shouldn't have said anything--and I agree that Biden should also be issuing pardons for everyone on Trump's hit list. Obama will be covered by the presidential immunity so that's fine, he's safe. And Biden is also covered by presidential immunity.

I sincerely hope and pray that Biden and his lawyers are busy drafting stuff....
