Thanks Adam Kinzinger!!! You impressed me with your work on the January 6th committee, your working relationship with LIz Cheney and for many other positive things you have done and continue to do. I know that the development of a consensus candidate is going to be very, very difficult, but I really hope it can happen. It would be a HUGE change for the betterment of our country. Oh, and I don't want to forget your work with Cassidy Hutchinson. I just finished reading her book a few days ago and I am even more convinced of her bravery and courage. I would definitely call her a hero (heroine?) that should be remembered for a long, long time.
I am in Mike Rogers state now for a family event. My relatives are Evangelical Christians. They are disgusted with the corruption of the House of Representatives. The inability of the MAGA run House even in the face of the massive, coordinated, terrorist attack on Israel and Israel’s ominous, impending, obliteration of (at least a portion) Gaza, in response to that attack - have left my Republican relatives looking for an immediate CHANGE in the Republican Party. Now is the time to end the MAGA grip on the US Government. I remember Mike Rogers trying to take a swing at Matt Gaetz during the marathon vote for McCarthy’s Speakership. Rogers seemed to be disgusted with Gaetz. The country needs to have Republican Congressional Representatives who are disgusted with the MAGA clowns. My Southern, Evangelical Republican relatives are looking for Representatives who are capable of working with the issues at hand and look forward - not to past grievances. Representatives who are prepared to deal with the fact that the world is at the precipice of war on multiple fronts. Representatives who are prepared to work with actual facts not culture wars and social media clicks. Representatives who want to ensure there is a world to leave to the children. Unlike Washington, most Americans generally agree on the major issues. Gym Jordan ignored the sexual abuse of athletes at Ohio State. He denied President Biden won the 2020 Presidential Election. Putin and America’s other enemies are hoping that the Republicans elect Gym Jordan as Speaker. I will tell you that no one out of the almost 30 Southern Evangelicals had anything nice to say about the MAGA’s. Time to move on. Go ahead and primary them - and loose MAGA’s. It’s time for your clown car to run out of time. Real war is breaking out.
Consensus Speaker sounds like a good solution for this no win situation as it stands now…will pray for this AND will email my Rep who had endorsed Scalise to consider this also. Thanks for the videos and for all you do, Adam!

Good news not only about the possibility of a moderate GOP speaker, but more importantly, the possibility of a consensus speaker. We ALL have our work cut out for us -- writing our congressperson and sharing this information. Thank you!!!
Good explanation of the current possibilities. A consensus speaker would be wonderful. Getting there, as you point out, will be difficult. A few brave women and men who will not be bullied and who stand for the good of our nation is what it will take. When I was born, Great Britain was a world power, now they are not. And at the same time our country became the world’s leader. Are we still? Can we continue to provide world leadership without our own government showing the way? Please continue to provide us with your ideas.
Thanks Adam for that great inside update! And, YES, this is definitely junior high- lol. I know from 34 years of teaching junior high/middle school. You mentioned about members being afraid to not vote for Jordan because they may be primaried. Well in my district, one of the 18 GOP moderate districts that Biden won, if they vote for Jordan they risk being primaried out. I emailed mine and told him NOT to vote for Jordan. I love your thoughts on working bipartisan to save this country and move it in a positive direction. Finding common ground is the only way.
I have learned so much from your posts and videos about the “workings” (currently non working) of Congress. Please keep the videos. We desperately need a functioning House and regain our status as the strongest democracy in the world. We need to be united in our support for Israel and Ukraine. I’m hoping for a consensus candidate which could be the start of getting us out of this mess! Thank you for standing up for our country!
Junior High? Elementary school students are more mature. This is criminal. The world is burning, the country will be out of money in a few days, and these self-serving idiots are playing games. Jim Jordan is unacceptable. Adam, now that you and Liz Cheney have exited, do any Republicans with a brain exist? I struggle with my Republican registration. Living in AZ, we have Jim Jordan cronies like Andy Biggs, David Schweikert, and Eli Crane to name a few. Consensus? Seems like a pipe dream. Do you see a way genuine way forward for the party? I am frightened that after this debacle the next will be Trump as the 2024 nominee. I am about to register as a Democrat. These Republicans seem to have escaped from a mental asylum.

Maybe it's time we break all the caucus groups into parties and then it becomes, like Italy or England, a matter of cobbling together folks of like interests that can "form" a ruling coalition. This whole mess is akin to herding cats nonetheless.
