I’m weary of the shit storm; when are people going to wake up? In 2015 he told us who he was and since then has only gotten scarier.

Well said. The S*@# storm is all Trump has ever had. And all VP Harris has to do is point that out in the debate in a no-nonsense manner to sway a lot of undecideds.

That there are still undecideds is what is most surprising to me. This is the easiest election I've ever voted in. Will there be light or darkness in America?

Adam, thank you so much for being true to your oath and defending Democracy against this villain.

By the way, he recently also said he will even hunt down and jail Harris’s political donors. Those who fail to take this man seriously do so at the peril of all of us!

God bless you and your family, may He keep us safe in these treacherous times. We are not going back and we won’t back down!

Thanks again Adam for your insight. As an Oregonian, I am incredibly disappointed that although my vote counts, the true election is coming down to six or seven states-and these are called “battleground” states. 😟

Expand full comment

The Electoral College is the problem. It’s the reason we have battleground states. We need to repeal the EC. Until then, please consider donating to Dem races in your home and in swing states.

Expand full comment

Oh..I do!! But even with the House and the Senate on our side, it’s going to be tough to get rid of the EC with so many state legislators in Republican control. But we have to start somewhere, and this November is a great place to start!!!

And that is where gerrymandering comes in! NC has been gerrymandered by a repub controlled state house and senate , and they stay in control due to this. And then our fed rep is effected that too. My current congressman was in the state legislature for maybe 10 years and was involved in the maps ! Mark meadows was my rep until he went to trump, he never ever campaigned in the blue areas , he knew he didn’t need to and was a,ways elected even with very good challenges. Then we got Madison Cawthorn , thank goodness he didn’t back in! But Chuck Edwards isn’t only a tiny bit better than mark meadows.

The GQP will never go along with eliminating the Electoral College (I've seen it referred to as the "electric collage" on a MAGA sign) because they know they may never win a popular vote for president ever again. Since 1992 the Repubs have only won the popular vote once, in 2004.

Thanks. I've wondered that

Complain all you want about the electoral college, but it has a purpose. One of it's original purposes was to stop the Trump's of the country from seizing power. However, the states corrupted that purpose be forcing electors to vote their party, not their conscience.

The other purpose was to allow small states to have influence in the election process. If you remove the Electoral College, then the Coasts and Metros will control the country and those of us in fly over country are just that, fly overs. We no longer matter in the election process. Talk about voter disenfranchisement.

The Electoral College is not a bad idea it just needs to be fixed. The best way to fix it is to have electors selected by the voting results in each House district as they do in Nebraska and Maine rather than the winner takes all approach in all other states.

Another thing that needs to be fixed is our elections as a whole. This many year process needs to be pruned down to 120 to 180 days tops. We need to implement rank choice voting in a single national primary held in July or August that chooses who runs in November. The idea that we all pay for the Republicans and Democrats to select their candidates is total BS. Why are WE paying for it, particularly when, if you are not affiliated with a political party in a lot of states, you do not even get to vote in the Primary because they are closed to only registered Dems and GOP. Let the Dems and GOP do their thing and come up with their candidates on their own dime. They can hold their own elections or caucuses to figure that out and not waste our time and money doing it.

I am also a fan of mandatory voting. Making it a misdemeanor if you do not vote. Don't send anyone to jail, but fine them or, better yet, make them work as a poll worker in the coming elections.

Hi Jeff,

Interesting points on the EC. Agreed on rank choice voting. There can be no third-party without that. But I respectfully submit that's not our current battle.

agree with all but have to take exception to mandatory voting. That's against our freedoms. Here's a possible solution regarding EC without getting rid of it. The National Popular Vote compact.

I do like rank choice voting as well and possibly what you said that Nebraska and Maine do, although gerrymandering may be a problem with that.

Well written! I agree.

Expand full comment

I agree!!!! Even though now I am in somewhat of a battleground state(NC) every state should be just as important, that is the problem with the outdated electoral college! Trump never had the popular vote!

I really wish that we can get rid of the electoral college. The popular vote is more reflective of all Americans wishes.

One of my neighbors had a nightmare in which she was placed in an internment camp after trump won because she had posted a Harris/Walz sign in her yard. We must work diligently to ensure this nightmare does not occur.

Expand full comment

I'll be perfectly honest I am concerned about the risk of putting a Harris/Walz yard sign in my yard. There are so many Trump wingnuts living around me that I'm not going to put a "bullseye" on myself by doing that. It shouldn't be this way in America! Trump is to blame! This lifelong Republican is voting Harris/Walz in November;

Expand full comment

Thank you, we put horse manure or some kind of poop around our sign so they can’t get close enough to take it, got a farmer near by?

Expand full comment

I do! There is a Pig farmer nearby. That stench is pretty awful! Guess I will have to keep my windows closed if I go that route! I'm more concerned (but NOT afraid) about them getting violent. I'm well equipped for home defense but I certainly consider that to be a last resort! I don't want to do anything that would provoke them to violence. Not having a yard sign seems to be a good way to 'keep the peace '. Besides, I'll be using my best weapon in November - my vote for Harris/Walz!

Lmaooo!

Expand full comment

Absolutely. Steve Schmidt said that when he worked for the McCain campaign, he was never threatened or harassed. He now has had threats against him and his family, harassment, boxes of feces mailed to him. All this is only since trump entered politics

Expand full comment

I would be concerned about putting up a Harris/Walz sign too that it would disappear or be trashed, especially living in a red state like Ohio. However, if I had a yard (I live in a condo), I would take the sign in at night. Although I used to be really nervous about wearing pro-Dem stuff out in public, I now go out of my way to wear t-shirts: Harris-Walz t-shirts, cute childless cat lady t-shirts, MANY anti-Trump t-shirts from CountryFirst, MeidasTouch, Michael Cohen, SwiftiesforKamala, etc. A couple Bleached Blonde Bad Built Butch Body MTG t-shirts because I can't stand her & Pam Hemphill told me where to get them. I deliberately wear the t-shirts when I know I'll be around places where there are Trump supporters and they don't intimidate me.

I’m very concerned about what’s going to happen between November and January. Domestic terrorism is a real threat with these people. And it’s astonishing to me that 46% of the electorate buys this shit.

My deepest wish is to never have to think about DJT again.

Expand full comment

Exactly! He definitely embodies the worst impulses of a wannabe dictator who only seeks power for his own gain. But the fact that so many of our fellow citizens support him and cannot discern between fact and lies is deeply troubling. The implications are that our nation has a cultural divide that is wide and deep and must be healed as soon and as much as possible, or another authoritarian will emerge when he eventually departs the national stage.

We are retired and said we won’t travel after Election Day, at least a planned vacation as we are fearful of what may happen across the country.

I can't and won't let DJT or his minions decide when I take a vacation!

I hear you. Just a bit concerned about protests and/or violence. If all seems to be good where we want to go, we will go but just a bit worried. I hate to think that they are winning and we are afraid but with all the time in the world, don’t want any chances.

My husband are at the age where we could retire but our anniversary is in December and we always take a vaca then. I think that the holidays are in that time too. People already went too long (Covid) without seeing their families and again, it is criminal if Trump takes that away from anyone. You can do your due diligence to make good plans and stay away from crowds but have to live your life and not let him win. If we let him fill us with fears, we are just letting him win.

Rationally, I know you are correct. I am also sure we are being irrational. We may change our minds as we are going for a short vacation soon and give us time to reset.

Elaine, I and my neighbors, all feel that way too.

I know it may be irrational and most probably all will be fine except pockets of areas, however, we are just a bit concerned. IF Trump wins, the country won’t implode that quickly. It’s more of a concern if he loses.

Adam,

Both you and Liz are truly profiles in courage and represent the best of America, and it’s our aspirational goals as a nation moving forward.

I personally do not subscribe to the neo-con agenda, and have always been wary of the Cheney’s and the “over the top” National Security hawks that do more harm than good. However, this is an “all hands on deck” moment that will define this nation for generations to come.

Trump represents the worst in us. His message, convoluted as it is, is one of destruction and despair; nothing good will come of it: EVER!

That said, America is a great nation and our only natural enemy is from within. So thank you Adam, your political sacrifice will not go unnoticed by many of us who truly appreciate all you are doing..:)

We Americans have no idea how good we have it here. You are 100% correct that we can only be defeated from within. That’s why I hate how the right and the left moan about how bad our country is.

Not specifically on topic but I delivered a blue sign for a congressional seat in a VERY red district. What so impressed me about the person I delivered it to was that she lived in a relatively humble area of town that was a parade of Trump signs including "Jesus is my Savior. Trump is my President". But that woman was willing to be a blue dot in a sea of red in a part of town I can only guess were full of gun toting fanatics. I don't know about political violence beyond Jan 6 but that woman standing up in that place was as much if not more inspiration to me than almost anything I've read or seen.

I can only hope enough Independents and ethical Republicans will be swayed to vote for Harris so that we can defeat the monster, because that is what it will take. I no longer attempt to sway the MAGA crowd.

One MAGA high school friend shared a meme “When a lifelong Democrat from an iconic Democrat family, who tried to run as a Democrat, and who’s running mate was a Democrat, warns you about the dangers of voting for the Democrat in this election, you should probably listen.” Of course he was referring to an unhinged and desperate R.F. Kennedy. Happily, one of the followup replies knocked it out of the park: “When 40 former cabinet member and high level staffers say they cannot and will not support Donald Trump, maybe you should listen.” While that was a great comeback, I doubt seriously it had any impact whatsoever.

The "debate" is tomorrow. Perhaps weird Don-Old will display his nonsense to the country and the world. Those in his cult will applaud and cheer for his performance. If "Harris for The People" does her job, she will make the orange felon look cognitively impaired and unable to speak coherently. The ongoing craziness of Trump's "campaign" has me bone weary. May it come to an end. Once and forever. Keep up the good work Adam and thank you once again.

DJT doesn’t have a creative bone in his body. He leaves a trail of unplanned wreckage behind him, and he imagines that he has done something.

Napalm solves nothing. We used to understand that. That is why Arlington means nothing but a photo prop for a shameful stunt.

Every American service headstone calls out silently-“Citizen, was my death worth the price?” Even those who fell in Anzio and Omaha Beach expect an answer, for they fell during the battle and did not see the outcome.

To the WWII and Korean War veterans, we owe the answers as well as ‘nam and Iraq and Afghanistan. And often, the answer is ‘no.’ We civilians are the custodians of the service men and women. They died willingly but not eagerly. They trusted their country not to let them down. That’s us. If we vote in a Big Daddy who will make our decisions for us, the moral weight doesn’t lift from our shoulders a bit. To surrender our rights given by God to someone who will squander them is unspeakable.

The orange man-baby is so desperate and deplorable. I’m praying that the so-called debate (can tfg really be debated in the true sense of the word?) will show some of the undecided voters that he has NO vision for America going forward and has NO policies on anything to offer the American people. He’s been campaigning for two years and has yet to unveil any substantial policies other than tariffs (which is really a tax hike) are going to somehow lower child care costs. What a joke! Except it’s no laughing matter. We need to keep hammering home that Don-old is exactly that, OLD and out of touch with the world the rest of us live in. Keep sounding the alarm, Adam.
