Unfortunately there’s literally no way to change the minds of the brainwashed by showing them well-supported facts, as they have been programmed to believe only what their ‘masters’ tell them. Your last sentence reminded me of my feelings of despair watching the broadcast news media people (who supposedly have a larger share of viewers than cable news) going all soft on trump in the immediate aftermath of the mass shooting he was involved in - as if he was a beloved statesman. They all had the opportunity to point out that those who sanction, and encourage, violence towards others are very likely to encounter violence. Instead Martha Radditz (not an insignificant personality) made a point to tell her viewers that because of her many years as a war correspondent, she knows how our soldiers feel after they’ve been shot at and wounded, so she was totally impressed with trump’s ‘courage’ for getting up off the ground and raising his fist in defiance. Not an exact quote obviously, but that was the essence of her statement. And now seeing trump’s prominent ear mask….er bandage covering his boo-boo, when a bandaid would be sufficient, makes me laugh! All those months he refused to wear a mask to protect himself & others from ‘germs’ during the pandemic and now he needs to wear a covering, not much smaller than a mask, to keep germs away from a nick on his ear - AND his cult follows suit so that they can be just like him! Arrrrgh!

My concern is that there’s a noticeable difference in the way they report news related to trump. As an example, if the mass shooting in Butler, PA had involved *any* well known right-wing extremist other than trump, the networks would have treated it as a top news story, BUT, they would not have literally paid homage to say Nick Fuentes, Steve Bannon, Enrique Tarrio, Alex Jones, et.al., for their ‘courage’ if they stood up with their fist raised after being grazed by a bullet. Yes, trump is a former President, which makes it all the more important to report the facts that he is now a private citizen who is a convicted felon, and treat the incident the same way they would if it had involved one of the others I mentioned.

This vital message as so inspiring I was overwhelmed by emotion and could not watch anymore of his remarks -- it was too compelling, so I felt compelled to switch channels to a Seinfeld rerun to calm my nerves.

I am too. I was a paraprofessional for special education students in high school for 8 years and then at elementary level for a few years before I retired. Those children who will someday grow to be adults in our society need the extra effort that I and my colleagues provided. Loved helping them and some still say hi to me when I see them in public. They are worth it.
