This Moment is Too Serious for Domestic Blame
The world is on fire, and our fellow Americans aren't the enemy
The sickness of the right continues to fester. Today as we awoke to the awful news of an invasion by terrorists of Israel, the predictable “Joe Biden is the real enemy” crowd took to the twitters to spout off. Donald Trump Jr even tweeted:
The deep sickness here is that in a time of real danger, in a powder keg surrounded by drunken smokers, instead of exercising vigilance and showing no daylight between ourselves and our allies, we are inviting further aggression
I have deep disagreements with the Biden administration on Iran, and the recent release of billions in frozen assets for the return of US citizens. While we celebrate every American coming home, it is setting a dangerous precedence that only will encourage hostage taking. However, I don’t blame Joe Biden for today, I don’t blame Joe Biden for Russia invading Ukraine, and I don’t blame Joe Biden ALONE for Afghanistan (Trump set that table).
Todays shocking events should unite us as a nation against the terrorists who would kidnap civilians, gun down grandmothers, and murder children. The Hamas terrorists are Americas enemies… and so are the Russian terrorists. They do the exact same thing, just while wearing a uniform.
Those claiming that Trump would have done better forget a number of ridiculous events that occurred under him. A massive drone attack by Iran on Saudi oil facilities went unanswered. The downing of a US drone, the size of an airline…crickets. Donald Trump took America’s prestige and flushed it down the toilet when he crossed into North Korea like a giddy schoolgirl at the prom. And what about Russia? Well we all know the story. He invited Russian interference in the election, told the world he trusted Putin more than our own intelligence, and praised Putin’s “brilliance” at the start of the current iteration of the war in Ukraine. I personally heard him plead with a group of us to do him a favor in a bill because he “made a personal promise to Xi of China.”
There is plenty of blame to go around. Just not on ourselves. The war in Ukraine was started by Russian terrorists, and the war in Israel was started by Hamas terrorists. America stands with Israel and Ukraine.
As a side note, in 2019 I was the first Congressman to go with the United Nations into Hezbollah territory in a decade. What I saw there astounded me. Hezbollah operating openly, with their flags proudly displayed. It was a flash point you could feel was about to explode. Let’s hope and pray they stay put for this moment, or a regional conflict will certainly explode.
The worst thing the Palestinians did was to give Hezbollah power. They are NOT helpful. That's putting it mildly. On the other hand, and I might be in trouble here, is, Bebe made it very plain what his plans were when he took power again. Two state solution was dead, dead, dead, and he needs more territory to build housing for Israelis and he's going to take it. IMHO, THAT is not helpful either. There are over 2 million Palestinians living in 140 square miles. As far as I'm concerned, no one in the Middle East has clean hands. It's terrible what has gone on over the years there, NOT just Israel and Palestine.
It's a sad thing and how do we fix it, can we fix it, should we try to fix it? Sigh.
That Trump felt the need to comment at all, and in such a negative way, is simply Donald Trump in action. His administration was a foreign policy absurdity. Having disagreements with an administration is one thing, and a healthy thing. Former presidents bleating garbage is quite another. When terrorists strike our allies, we do the right thing. We rightly help Ukraine ,and we will strongly defend Israel, against aggression. To do otherwise is un-American,
