I am an independent too. From my understanding, at least in my state, you don't register as an Independent. When you do not choose a political party you are considered an Independent.
Hi Diane: I’m in Arizona and have been a registered Independent for about 10 years now. Cannot vote in primaries but cannot stomach either party anymore. I’m so tired of the ‘we’ll pick the least worst choice’. It’s time we remind the politicians that the first three words in the Constitution are ‘We The People’!!
totally agree! I've been an independent since Nov 2016 so I guess that's just about 10 years lol. I have always voted for the person though. I was never a party line person.
That's exactly when I bailed out of the Democratic Party and registered as an Independent! Enough was enough. I was not a fan of the Corporate Clintons, and I resented the Party pushing the corporate line yet again. I have voted more for Democrats than Republicans over my voting career, and these days I'm pretty sick and tired of them all. I'm tired of voting against the candidates that I consider despicable rather than voting for truly good candidates that I believe in. As Ron Sanchez stated above, it's time for candidates of any and all parties to seek to represent We the People again.
Make sure that the Independent party coincides with your beliefs. It does not in Calif. I used to register as that until it was brought to my attention. I now register as "Other".
Yes, I believe this is one of the most important questions we face. Gavin Newsome was recently interviewed and said we need to start preparing to stop him now. However, he did not detail exactly how we need to prepare. How can we begin to prepare for the possibility of ICE at the polls?
Adam, what are you hearing about Military NCO's being told by their Commanders to tell their troops the "Do not be afraid about deployment. That God has anointed Donald Trump to lead them into war in Iran"? See Aaron Parnas from The Parnas Perspective <aaronparnas@substack.com>
Do you think part of Trump’s actions like attacking Iran or not supporting Ukraine are because people like Netanyahu & Putin have evidence against him (Epstein files)?
I think it's because he is being supported in this by the other Arab nations who have their own reasons. This is why you see Kushner, trump and his billionaire allies making deals there. Israel and the Arab nations- strange bedfellows for power and money. You notice also Putin is not intervening to help Iran because the deal is trump can help Arab nations get Iran while he gets Ukraine and other baltic countries
I’m writing both as a citizen and as a father. My son currently serves in the Air National Guard and hopes to pursue aviation long term. He has a great deal of admiration for your service as an Air Force pilot and for the way you’ve spoken publicly about duty, leadership, and constitutional responsibility. You have been someone who he very much looks up to.
As I’ve followed the current tensions with Iran, I think most people across the political spectrum would agree that the Iranian regime has long acted as a destabilizing force in the region, and few would dispute that its leadership has engaged in behavior that threatens both its own people and international stability. At the same time, I’ve found myself reflecting on something historians like Jon Meacham often emphasize. Democracies rarely make a single deliberate decision to enter war. Instead, conflicts can sometimes emerge gradually through escalation, miscalculation, or political pressures.
That observation also seems closely related to the concerns raised by the founders. James Madison warned that the executive branch is “most prone to war,” which is why the Constitution deliberately placed the authority to declare war with Congress.
As someone who often writes about the importance of civic responsibility and moral courage in defending democratic institutions, I’m curious how you think about this tension today.
My question is this:
Given the current tensions with Iran, what safeguards should exist to ensure democratic decision-making doesn’t gradually slide into a larger conflict without clear congressional oversight and without the American public fully understanding the stakes?
As a father of a Guardsman, I suspect many military families are thinking about these questions right now.
Thank you for the leadership you’ve shown in defending constitutional principles and democratic accountability.
We should all be concerned as you are about the future for our brave service men and women. I can only imagine your angst . I am very concerned and actually sickened to think that decisions moving forward are seemingly in the hands of an incompetent president and Pete Hegseth. He “ended 8 wars” but has sent
Venezuela into chaos and
bombed Iran. My heart also goes out to the Americans still in the Middle East with no plan to get them home. This seems too
I forgot to ask you why do we have to pick up the tab every time DJT goes to Maralago? I think that it’s absurd that he goes there every weekend. We should not have to pay for that.
How on earth does Cash Patel have any kind of security clearance? I mean seriously? I have emailed my Senators, Hawley and Schmidt, (I know, right?!) multiple times last week alone. Do they actually read any of them? What is the best method of communication with our Elected Officials? Asking for a friend. 😬
Can you give us any hope? This is a mess with an administration who lies and is inexperienced. How soon can we start turning things around on all fronts?
I would like to know why Trump always manages to avoid consequences for his illegal and immoral actions, and what the American people can do to change that, since it's obvious that Congress will not do its job.
There was a post about it here at Substack - I think from Blundell - that made that claim very emphatically. The author was raised in an evangelist family and didn't escape from it until he moved out. Blundell is a "hair-on-fire" writer and his piece made it sound like every grunt in America was going to strap on a big red cross and go on a crusade tomorrow. I hope that isn't true, but Secretary Hogsbreath is certainly of that breed ... it could happen.
I love history. Many of the crowned heads of Europe, including Richard I of England (He's the guy who rides in at the end of most Robin Hood films.) sacrificed wealth and risked their lives on "The Crusades" for a lot sillier stories.
What can we do to stop this insanity? What laws should be passed to prevent another Pres. Trump from taking over our country. E.g., he is not following the laws or the constitution. He swore an oath to it and is not following it. What can be done to stop the lies coming out of the President, Vice President and Speaker of the house? What also can be done to separate the church from state as it should be? Thank you for all you do.
Have you thought of running for President in 2028 under a different party?
Independents (and I am a registered Independent) would love to have a team to coalesce around!
I am an independent too. From my understanding, at least in my state, you don't register as an Independent. When you do not choose a political party you are considered an Independent.

Why has no one brought articles of impeachment against the Dumbass in Chief? Why do they continue to let him defy the law and our Constitution?
Because the party in power wouldn't even bring it for consideration. That's also why he wants to rig the mid-terms.
Because the GOP controls the House and Senate. The motion would be shot down immediately.
Repukecans 😂
Because the next in line isn’t any better and might be worse!
This is very true.
Agree, vote!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what can we do to keep trump from taking control of the elections?
Yes, I believe this is one of the most important questions we face. Gavin Newsome was recently interviewed and said we need to start preparing to stop him now. However, he did not detail exactly how we need to prepare. How can we begin to prepare for the possibility of ICE at the polls?
Agree. I am also concerned about the legitimacy of the midterm election process.
Arrest him TODAY on any number of real criminal charges and throw him in prison.
Because the Supreme Court has said that a sitting president is pretty much immune from criminal charges.
Who's going to arrest him? He owns the Justice Department, and, alas, the Supreme Crt., who's already said he basically has total immunity.

Came here to ask same question. Very, very scary.
It’s eery! Sounds like they want a religious war!
They do.
Same question
My belief is Trump is a tool. He’s not in control nor is he capable of thought and decision making. Who is the puppeteer?
Stephen Miller is effectively the president, imho.
I think you're right and have wondered the same thing. Vance and the other Project 2025 people? Netanyahu? I hope Adam will speak to this.
Netanyahooooo
Peter Theil is definitely in the mix...
Do you believe China will be emboldened to invade Taiwan having seen Trump attack Iran and Venezuela? Who will Trumps next target; Cuba?
Do you think part of Trump’s actions like attacking Iran or not supporting Ukraine are because people like Netanyahu & Putin have evidence against him (Epstein files)?

As I said before, he’s not taking his meds or overdosing!
You can bet on it.

awful to be true, but it is.
What happens next, Adam ?
I forgot to ask you why do we have to pick up the tab every time DJT goes to Maralago? I think that it’s absurd that he goes there every weekend. We should not have to pay for that.
Remember how the Republicans would complain when Obama would occasionally play golf?

At what point is he ever held accountable?
What gives you purpose in life?
I would like to know why Trump always manages to avoid consequences for his illegal and immoral actions, and what the American people can do to change that, since it's obvious that Congress will not do its job.
Military leadership pushing the Armageddon/ Trump chosen essentially as the second coming… is that true?

Yes, what can this country do to make sure that every broken system that relied upon respect for the rule of law and norms is fortified?
