Trump Failed to Protect Americans in Iraq From Iran
And sent a message of weakness, again, and again
The “man” who could care less about American troops, who retreats in the face of adversaries and admires autocrats, has once again taken to spreading pure lies to take advantage of a serious moment for the US, Israel, and the world. Americans should be outraged. After all it was Donald Trump who never responded, nor had air defense in place, when American soldiers were attacked in Iraq directly by Iranian missiles. His recent attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris over her stance on this volatile regime are not only unfounded but reek of hypocrisy.
Let’s remember the facts: in January 2020, Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on U.S. forces stationed at Al Asad Airbase in Iraq. This assault resulted in over 110 American service members sustaining traumatic brain injuries, a clear indication of the severity of the threat we faced. Yet, instead of taking decisive action, Trump downplayed the injuries as mere "headaches." He chose to ignore the gravity of the situation, opting for a narrative that minimized the sacrifices of our troops and the reality of the Iranian threat. Of course, minimizing our troops sacrifice is his favorite pastime.
Now, Trump has the audacity to attack Harris for her approach to Iran, casting doubt on her commitment to American safety. This is rich coming from a man who, when faced with a direct attack on our forces, chose to deflect and downplay rather than confront the enemy. His administration's failure to respond decisively to Iran's aggression was a dangerous precedent that emboldened our adversaries.
Harris, on the other hand, recognizes the complexity of dealing with Iran. She understands that a strong national security policy requires a nuanced approach, one that balances deterrence with diplomacy. This is a stark contrast to Trump’s erratic and often reckless foreign policy, which oscillated between feckless belligerence and bewildering retreats.
By launching personal attacks on Harris instead of engaging in substantive debate about foreign policy, Trump is showcasing his own failures. His attempts to shift the narrative away from his administration’s shortcomings only serve to highlight his continued obsession with divisive politics rather than the safety and security of the American people.
Trump is genuinely concerned about Iran and the safety of our troops, he should reflect on his own record. Rather than hurling insults at Harris, he should acknowledge the consequences of his decisions that have left us in a more precarious position. America deserves leaders who confront our challenges with honesty and integrity—not those who resort to fearmongering and misinformation for political gain. It’s time we demand accountability from those who seek to lead us, especially on issues of national security.
In the face of any danger he’s a coward; as most bullies are once they meet their match.
Adam, you can end the sentence with Trump failed to protect Americans. From Iran, from Covid, from January 6th, but mainly from himself. He is an abomination.
