Adam always appreciate your concise review of facts. I want to shout them from the rooftops. I always question how people can excuse what happened on January 6th. I still feel the horror of watching it unfold.

I still feel that horror also Jodi. Unfortunately I also still feel the naive feeling that surely now people will see him for who he really is. All this time later he still roams free, lauded by all his followers and untouched by justice. It’s disturbing.

It’s breathtaking how many separate abnormal flukes lined up in Trump’s favor, like Fani Willis’s relationship with a colleague, and Aileen Cannon being assigned a case then behaving with incredible corrupt intent without repercussions. I feel hollowed out.

Trump is a master manipulator, Garland was negligent in not acting even before the 1/6 Committee to investigate and prosecute T’s egregious crimes. Cannon is an obvious sycophant. Bottom line, no accountability and no justice! Navalny on the Russian judicial system, “They keep making up lies and then find the victims to fit them.” How are we going to reform the judicial system with the 🦊 ruling over the hen houses. We are in a really s—t place of our own making! Any ideas are welcome!

They don't realize how good trump is at this- no one can beat him at his game- Fani should have NEVER hired the colleague knowing she had this relationship. Cannon is just a trump loyalist.

You are so right! Looking back Trump has slithered out of dozens of corrupt doings. It’s the curious case of teflon Don.

Trump's family name will indeed go down in history - but not in the way that he expects or wishes - a big, beautiful, black mark -- grifter, traitor, malignant narcissist. He has evaded justice now - but, eventually, the truth always catches up with you, no matter how quickly you shuffle along and no matter how many rich friends try to re-write history.

The most important black marks that should immediately follow Trump's name include "twice impeached, 34 times convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and fraudster"

Heather Cox Richardson, the esteemed historian, communicator, and exquisite analyzer of facts concluded her “Letters from an American” today saying, “ It’s as if the Confederates’ descendants have captured the government of the United States.” Adam, in his missive today, recapped our current political institution by saying “Trump may have escaped conviction in a courtroom, but he stands charged convicted by the truth. History will be harsh.” Truth and morality are unknown qualities in the MAGA movement as further evidenced in the Hegseth hearing yesterday. Greed, lies, and supremacy are on a roll in our country. I’m ashamed of those elected to lead in undoing democracy, lifting lies and using skulduggery as the norm. History may be harsh, but this era is a captive of autocracy, an oligarchy, and egotistical politicians who care only about fealty to the most dishonest leader in our country’s life. Let us do whatever our sphere of influence permits. May democracy survive. May little people growing up in this era value truth and act with trustworthiness. Gonna’ be hard when they see lies go unpunished.

Thank you for this concise and clear summary of this complex series of crimes, Adam. I would differ with you on the disposition of the Georgia case. Republicans dramatized an inconsequential point to derail the entire case and justice itself. It was part of the Trump strategy to evade accountability. I continue to gaze at the political situation in which we find ourselves and wonder, How could this have happened to our great country?

Hitler dismantled democracy in Germany in 53 day…53 days. Everyone thought they could control him and No One stood up to him. The few who tried caved. American Hitler - well on his way, BUT we have many who will stand up to him! We need to get more!

Never in my life did I ever think a convicted felon would be elected president of our great country. Beyond that, Trump has truly lost touch with reality, Greenland, Canada, the Panama Canal, really?!?! Midterms can’t get here soon enough.

And why isn’t the mainstream media and any media for that matter, shining a spotlight on his craziness, just as they did on Biden when he had that not so great debate with the orange man-baby. I know he was elected but it is imperative that we keep calling out that we have a demented, out of touch with reality lunatic “leading” this country.

I only see what happened and what is real, which is on Monday morning we all wake up to a country ruled by fascism. Throw a goodbye party for democracy and our Constitution the night before. Please tell me I'm wrong. The people are always the last to know what is lost until it affects them personally (like the frog placed in a pot of slow boiling water) but look all around you. California will be denied help until they push out Newsom and bow down to fascism. Adam was truthful. We are in for a long haul, and it may take a decade or two to get back what we lost. That is a battle our children will inherit and curse us for as well. Democrats should have fought to the death to prevent Hegseth from being nominated. They should have coordinated their defense passing the ball from one to the other instead of trying each to make a jump long shot from across the court given how little time they had to make their case. Republicans play it like it is a team sport; that is how they should have played it. The fact we could not block that nomination following a series of "I cannot believe it is happening" events is to me --- well there are no words.

Midterms? Everyone acts like that’s a sacred sure thing. Nothing is sacred now. There will be no midterms. Trump will use an “emergency” to postpone them indefinitely. Nobody in the GOP will resist. They are going to confirm Hegseth! Evidence that there are no boundaries and nothing is sacred.

Elections are conducted by state and local governments. There are no means under the Constitution to suspend elections. If Trump tries to do that, well, who knows? I personally don’t believe people will just sit back and allow 250 years of democracy to vanish without a fight.

I truly hope you are right. But in 250 years we’ve never had an insurrection at the Capitol, and then re-elected the mastermind. People sat back and did that.

Lincoln didn’t postpone elections during the civil war. Republicans (and most politicians) are only interested in self preservation. I mean what other job can you get where you can you front run the stock market? If they see Trumps policies increase the cost of living (tariffs, retaliatory tariffs) or red states start to realize cutbacks on ACA, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and domestics spending affect them most, pressure will come to bear on the politicians from those states who continue to support Trumps foolishness. At some point they will bolt.

As for guys like Hegseth, it’s only a matter of time until their worst angels catch up with them and scandal ensues. Trump is not known to tolerate anybody who becomes a liability and they will suffer at the mad emperors hands. That said, it will be a difficult 4 years. With luck, somebody will change the combination on the “football” and Trump won’t be able incinerate the planet or any blue state.

I agree, Midterms? 4 years from now? Who knows? You will notice there is very little talk here about what we can do now which is very disturbing to me. I know it's early into the dictatorship but some constructive thought needs to start happening. Citizens can only do so much but there is things that can be done right now with little effort like boycotting these companies that are kissing the ring. Tesla, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Amazon for starters. When the illegal acts against our citizens start, we'll need to have massive protest in Washington DC and throughout the country. If this doesn't happen, Hello, Russia!!!

I agree that historia will not be kind to Trump, but I am concerned about the next four years and the harm that can and will be done to our country and to the people before history speaks. That pretty much sums it up. We must never forget this. I am proud of you, Liz Cheney, Cassidy and the few others who were willing to take a stand for justice at all cost. But the end result is ultimately despair and the effects will affect generations to come.

The Gen Z generation that just watched this unfold have no hope or belief that justice is possible for the rich and the elite. In fact, some Gen Z are fine if it all burns down as they see everything as pointless now. It makes no difference how much I tell my kids that ultimately justice will prevail. All they see are repeated injustices towards the poor and marginalized while the rich and elite are able to do whatever they want. Irregardless, we ourselves must continue to do what is right and be an example to others to help rebuild the foundation of this country so that it can have a chance to a land of opportunities for all for the future generations.

...and Trump's immediate response to the Special Counsel Report was that all the exonerating evidence was deleted. We need to keep shouting out all the occasions where the tactic is to make someone disprove something never happened to something that never existed. Considering what DFT has gotten away with while NOT in office, I am afraid he indulge in all manner of horrendous acts starting on January 20. His minions have arranged for the flag to fly at full staff on that day. A slam in the face to much of the country.

Adam excellent summary. I can dream about what could have been and have seen Trump eliminated from the political scene. Adam, i appreciate your attitude of truth will be seen in history. However, that does little to console me. I am horrified that a “norm”, not a law, allowed Trump to get away without true accountability. A “norm”. His crimes were far too serious to allow a DOJ to interfere in a trial that the American people deserved. Yes, the legal system and judges and Garland were all part of the sluggishness of this case. For me, however, it was the unwillingness of everyone to take on a case of a former President. I do not understand how he could become a candidate with all these cases outstanding against him. As a result of this we now have half of the country believing he was innocent and the rest of us knowing full well what hell these next 4 years will truly be like. I am so dumbfounded that there was no law to protect the American people from a second time with him. It makes a mockery of the Capital insurrection. The WORLD saw it and named it for what it was. And having election deniers in Congress is beyond belief for me. Norms protected him. Who protected me?

I agree the most frustrating part of this debacle was the inexplicable delays that, if avoided, may have prevented Trump from being re-elected. He was at his weakest moment after January 6th. The biggest problem is not Trump, but the millions of Americans who are human (all too human). Rather than admit this man lied to them, they sought any and all excuses to explain away his misdeeds and (in my opinion) outright treason against the Constitution and the principles this great republic was founded on. It's become a religious-like movement, where it's just easier to not talk about that stuff and agree to all sing along to the tune being fiddled by MAGA. Even if the country burns down. But guys like you, Adam, and Liz Cheney, and many others, continue to give us hope.

I’m not giving up that quickly and easily. Musk is undoubtedly brilliant. Which means he’s technologically capable of a lot. I’ll never be totally convinced that Trump took all those states legitimately. I, as a simple human being, have no way to prove that, but my instincts are usually accurate. My gut tells me something’s wrong. Or maybe I just don’t want to believe that there are that many stupid people in this country. I’m encouraged by Dick and Liz Cheney’s silence.

I don't think Musk is brilliant. He is a Master Class Con Man and the money he has was seeded by our tax dollars thru government funding (loads of money). This wealth helped him curate his brand as a brilliant, genius, inventor and businessman, which worked to further seed his ever-growing fortune. He is, in fact, under investigation for his use of those funds, which will go nowhere given he "brilliantly" conned his way into the most powerful role on the globe. We are living in a new world where it is all about brand not character or intelligence or experience; and those of us who are truly brilliant, educated, experienced and well intentioned are being sacrificed for the pretenders. Those of us who can see are being put on trial. Those of us who once cared no longer care. Good morning, America! What brand will you swallow whole today? That is what we do staring at our blue screens and accepting all of it unquestioning. Only to be immediately regurgitated then licked up and swallowed by others from where it expands exponentially. Well, I don't buy any of it.

Okay, he may not be brilliant in the way we generally think of brilliance. He’s on the spectrum. People on the spectrum can be exquisitely tuned in, in specific directions.

I have not seen the diagnosis -- but I know he is a master class con man -- and do not see him as brilliant -- so I'm confused what a diagnosis which I have never seen evidence or even a report to be fact has to do with he has conned us. But maybe you are right he is on the spectrum that explains all of it and his intentions are earnest just clouded by his diagnosis.

So, he claims to have a diagnosis. My argument was he is a master class con man. The diagnosis for which he claims to have does not make him brilliant. Does it?
