“Trump double-downed on his effort to create “others” for his followers to hate when, in an echo of Nazi Germany, he described his opponents as “vermin” whom he would “root out.” (I know, in today’s politics, tying someone to the Nazis is considered out-of-bounds. But in Trump’s case, we have a singular, power-mad cult leader who fits the description so fully it must be said.).”--Adam K

Disgusting on its face. And Nazi Germany isn’t the most recent case. Russia is calling Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy, and his government Nazi’s, while the Wagner Group, which originated as a Nazi organization and private military contractor, invades the country.

Rwanda, back in the 90’s experienced a genocide in which the Hutu’s called Tutsi’s cockroaches which is a type of vermin.

This is the authoritarian, kakistocracy playbook. Reduce humans to nothing more than rabid animals and pond scum, and you can justify any treatment of a group of humans you don’t like, or utterly despise.

The truly scary part is that so many poorly informed people believe this type of rhetoric. They have the need to feel better than others and immigrants are an easy target. Of course they overlook the fact that they, themselves are the products of earlier immigration waves. The road to authoritarian government is paved with hate speech and disinformation.

The willfully ignorant love him.

Yes and they follow him blindly, drinking the kool aid (just as Jim Jones coerced his followers in Guyana in 1978) oblivious to the poison in the cups. Except with this cult leader, if he gets back in the WH, we all have to live under his insanity, not just his followers.

Not me. If he gets re-elected, I'm emigrating to Canada. I'm too old to put up with Trump's *hit! I'm healthy, I have skills and I can still work!

I hear you. I thought about that too. But my husband and I are retired already. And we have 5 grandkids who all live close by and it would kill us to not be in their lives. We’re all very close.

Vitriol coming out of his mouth keeps getting fouler and fouler. I said way before most believed he was capable of a coup attempt this guy is an American Hitler wannabe, and he's going there in spades. HE MUST BE STOPPED!

It is nothing short of appalling and astonishing to me that a huge number of Americans seem to find nothing wrong with what he says and does.

This is one of the most disturbing things I've read. My 100 year old father served in world war II, and is horrified by this.

Deeply, deeply disturbing. He is a despicable human being, there is no bottom to his disgusting rhetoric. Horrified that he has his cult and they believe him. They believe him so much that they could launch him back into the White House. He must be stopped but it doesn’t seem as though anything is happening in that regard. The indictments? Will that be enough? I have my doubts about that plus with delays and such, will they be over by Election Day and will he be convicted? I feel as though we are in a hamster wheel situation where we go round and round, and can’t get off.

What in heavens name has happened to us? Was this hatred and dread there all along and being brought to forefront by this sorry symptom? Our leaders have abandoned their sensibilities and must be held accountable in some way. I pray the good folks will rise up with a resounding NO come election time.

Let's just hope that the major network media gets on the stick and draws these parallels because most people aren't in touch with his horrendous behavior. The Republican Party has taken his hand and are leading him down this destructive path. I put the blame firmly on their shoulders. They had the opportunity to stop him when he was at his least powerful on January 7. Instead, they gave him their support and now can't come back from the chaos they've created. And the media would prefer to keep us in the dark, it seems.

I put a large blame on the Republican Party and their utter lack of leadership and balls (sorry for the crass word but that’s how I feel). If they would have voted to impeach him when they had a chance (either the first or especially second time) our country would not be staring down a barrel right now with the trigger being pulled next November. If he gets back in the White House he’ll never leave. We heard as much was true about last time he was there from Jenna Ellis’ deposition that got leaked yesterday.

I encourage everyone to watch Season 2, Episode 4 of the tv series "Dead Like Me" titled "The Shallow End", which aired on August 15, 2004 -nearly 20 years ago! You will see a much younger Trump included in a montage with Hitler, Idi Amin, and Augusto Pinochet. Someone involved in creating that episode knew what Trump was like way back then!

Thank you- I knew about trump for decades but not the connection to autocracy and fascism. I will watch.

While Trump clearly over-generalized about the criminality of illegal immigrants, his basic policy of physically closing the border to them is one that I support. While many would- be immigrants are simply looking for better paying jobs and greater freedom, the U.S. already has too many people for the long term quality of life of its current citizens. In our interest, the U.S. cannot continue the de facto Biden/Harris policy of open borders.

Where do we locate “Trumpwatch” by Michael D’antonio? Sounds like essential reading, listening?
