Dear Like Minds, I’m off topic, but this is my only safe place I share. Can we get every Democrat to insist, that the Media stop calling the current trial- Hush Money Trial. MAGA doesn’t care about Stormy or grab them tape at all, then or now. It is an election interference case, pure and simple.

Trump should receive the same "fairness" given to Bobby Seale in Chicago in 1968.

For those too young to remember, here's a tidbit from wikipedia

"Seale was one of the eight people charged by the US federal government with conspiracy charges related to anti-Vietnam War protests in Chicago, Illinois, during the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Seale's appearance in the trial was widely publicized and Seale was bound and gagged for his appearances in court more than a month into the trial for what Judge Julius Hoffman said were disruptions."

Everyone should read Project 2025. Especially chapter 3 on staffing the executive branch, chapter 28 on the FCC (say goodbye to freedom of speech), and chapter 29 on the Federal Election Commission.

I called my congresswoman, a democrat just to make sure the party will be lock step on passing this bill. I hope Sassy Massie and MAGA Marge have no dirty tricks up their sleeves.

We must elect folks who will stand with Ukraine.

Adam, this is a small step of bipartisan support for the aid bill to Ukraine, Taiwan et al but so very important that it came about. I read the quote from Mike Johnson on his thought process in his decision to bring forward these bills. Seems like he had a come to Jesus moment. I’m thankful he’s seemingly looking at the bigger picture instead of the usual “let’s make the democrats the villains” stance. MTG could take some lessons from him. As always, thank you for your analysis and perspective on so many important issues. I truly appreciate your insight and honesty. Hope you and your family have a great weekend as well.

Evidently, the director of the CIA walked Speaker Johnson step by step through all the intelligence, such that he came to understand just why it is so important to support Ukraine. If that's the case, then he will, presumably, continue to do so.

What strikes me, in particular, is that he not only <finally> took a stand against the MAGA radicals but also, ultimately, against 45*. That, too, is a big deal. If MTG, Massie, and Gosar do try to overturn his speakership, I very much hope that Hakeem Jeffries will lead support for his not be ousted. There is <much> about which I disagree with Speaker Johnson, but at this point having another stretch of directionless chaos would be even worse.

You are so right, this is an extremely important point in time. Explaining how the process works in the house is essential for understanding why things happen as they do. Finally seeing genuine cooperation between parties has brightened my day. Ukraine must survive. We, as a nation, must accept our responsibility to NATO and those who need our support. The MTGs cannot be allowed to influence our decisions or spread Russian propaganda.

Thank you so much Adam! I really appreciate your keen insight and clarity!

It's also important to acknowledge Biden's actions that helped bring Johnson to his come to Jesus moment. (Biden is exactly THE President we need in this situation.)

A Politico article (4/18/24) "How Johnson and Biden locked arms on Ukraine" described it, in part, this way:

"The administration held several closed-door briefings for Johnson and other lawmakers to update them on the deteriorating situation in Ukraine, starting just days after Johnson became speaker. . . .

Biden aides’ effort to privately cajole Johnson toward action mirrors the approach that the president and his advisers have taken on other high-profile issues. It stems from a belief that they have a better shot at success by persuading skeptics rather than strong-arming them."

It's hard to imagine the "republican" party has such hiccups as we have seen recently, thanks in almost wholly part to a crazy and narcissistic man. Thanks for giving us some hopeful news. And yes, hats off to the sane minds in Congress. Thanks for the update!
