An eclipse and earthquake that do little more than provide some fun conversations for a couple of days are clearly a sign of God's wrath.

Meanwhile, a plague that killed over a million Americans was obviously a nefarious plan by Gates and Fauci, and not at all a reflection of God's displeasure with Trump-era America.

I am surrounded by MAGA people who are all lawyers who hold themselves out as intelligent officers of the court. I try to keep it light with them, all are beyond hope or reasonable discussion. I note when I mention Alex Jones to them they claim he is off the air and "gone." With MTG they say she doesn't represent the party. This belief system is in the realm of a medical diagnosis...............downright frightening.

I seem to always fall back to Mr. Carlin's observations of humans:

“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

I thought, for sure, Trump was going to blame the earthquake on Biden ("That earthquake wouldn't have happened if I were in office") and was going to take credit for the eclipse ("I built an incredible eclipse. A lot of people are saying, it was the best eclipse ever.")

Actually, the earthquake AND the eclipse were Taylor Swift’s fault. Gotta blame a woman. A powerful, successful woman.

It’s an interesting fun fact that the epicenter of the quake was under Trump’s golf course in NJ.

Well, sorta. Just outside the epicenter according to Jimmy Kimmel. I’d post the map but can’t in substack.

Adam, ty for this super helpful post. I appreciate knowing what folks like Kirk & MYG are up to without having to endure it directly, especially as I have a grand niece and nephew steeped in Charlie Kirk since they were 13. The context you give around their remarks also helps us all to "see" what could be easy to miss.

Adam, a dear late and favorite client of mine, wise and almost a father figure to me in many ways, liked to say "Reasonable people, equally informed, seldom disagree." He passed before our political and media atmosphere was polluted by the faux orange god and his cultists. He would realize that his thesis depended on its predicate: reasonable people. Tfg's cultists and his morbidly rich puppet masters are not by any definition reasonable people. Because of that, we cannot compromise with them. We can only do all we can to eject them from every position of power and influence possible. If we fail to do that, we will fail as a country. It is that simple and that stark.

Almost daily I wonder how MAGA cultists manage to get dressed each day, given their intellectual challenges. Some even have passed their driver tests! How?

It is as it has always been, events of nature just bring the crazies out. And MTG, Candace Owens, Charlie Kirk, and Ben Shapiro are some of the craziest. Charlie Kirk, however, made me want to puke. What a disgusting man.

Gratitude for your rational approach. It was distressing to read some of the things you reported… but as I’ve been thinking recently… these times belong in the history books. Some of us are dreaming idealistically of a time in the future when human beings truly love their brothers and sisters!

Rumor has it that when MTG saw the sun turn black she took out her AR-15 and started shooting at it.

As usual, Adam, you nailed it! Great piece! I don’t know about you, but I often wonder how Jesus Christ, Himself, would fare with the “Christians” if he was a candidate for office. In fact, I wrote a piece in “My Little Corner of the World,” titled “Jesus for President,” would love your feedback. By the way, glad you are feeling better.

Here to comment, which others already noted, that the epicenter was much closer to Trump's Bedminster Golf Course. That must be a sign for MAGA Republicans to abandon Donald J. Trump.

But those who know that an eclipse is just an eclipse, we can appreciate its beauty from afar, and then go forth to protect what is beautiful close to home.

Thank you, Adam for this information! I know there are crazy things being spewed in right wing media because I hear it echoed back from my maga relationships. Thank you for not making me read this dark stuff as I appreciate being educated by you!

Being in southern California I chose to watch the eclipse through CNN. What affected me, besides the beauty of it, was watching people's reactions. I think many people realized there is something bigger than ourselves! This gave me hope that the majority of Americans felt that while watching this miracle God made!

I now accept that all of these mean, delusional creatures are simply seeking attention and financial gain. Whether they believe any of what they say is irrelevant. They, like Trump, have tapped into a pot of gold. Their absurd utterances have to be refreshed. Attention spans in their respective audiences are gnat like. Conspiracies and nasty fables are the light bulbs around which they flitter.

Adam,

The National Enquirer, the tabloid with wacky headlines and controversial stories, sold two months ago. It had been for sale for years. I guess it had a hard time topping the wacky headlines and controversial stories put out by the Trump addicts. The National Enquirer has just become MAGA lite. The National Enquirer just could not come up with big enough lies.
