Thanks for this. I’d love to get your perspective for the layperson on the air war and the hoped impact of the F-16s.

Here’s what I have picked up— many of the missiles coming into UA are air-launched. RU planes don’t spend much time over UA-held territory, but operate from border areas, occupied areas, Crimea and Black Sea to attack. UA has had some anti-aircraft success, primarily from the ground. Is that mostly right?

How do the F-16s help? Keep the RU airplanes further away (or bring them down if they get close)? Attacks against land targets? There are so many drones in this war. Do crewed and uncrewed aircraft work together?

Second Tim! They can also go after triple layered Russian defense lines along the 800 mile border. Ukraine counter offensive was fool hardy without air cover and support. They paid dearly in lost lives and equipment. Now Ukraine soldiers are worn out and badly need replacements, but they are hard to find and will cost the Ukraine economy.

Regarding the 16’s, gives them the ability to carry the best munitions close enough to the destroy the jets and missile launch before they are launched and or in the air over russian territory. The 16’s could possibly enter russian space for an extremely high value target. Especially the huge missiles and glide bombs, that enables them (russians) to totally obliterate the city before they then can walk through the utter destruction.
