I'm guilty of relying on you alot, adding to YOUR burden! Thank you so much for this great article.

I realize I've been thinking it's just us in this fight.

There are millions of people who feel the same way we do. They just aren't visible like Maga followers are.

Thank you for this. I woke up in cold sweat this morning from a nightmare of Donald Trump winning in November. The constant threats from him and the MAGA mob no doubt are exhausting and heavy. But we must do what we can to not lose hope and keep doing the hard work. You have set a great example for all of us.

When you dream it and start having cold sweats, step back from the news media for a bit. Understand that it is now a forum of keeping you engaged by means of fear. Unfortunately, it is indeed very effective. Even after you go to sleep. 🛌

I will be okay - I am off twitter and rarely read news after dinner. I always have vivid and scary dreams.

Your words are both personal and generalizable. You hit the button. As I feel discouraged, I too remind myself the difference between “can do” and “can’t do” then place the slightest of can do’s in perspective. I’m donating at times, writing at times and voting ON TIME. I ponder leaving the country I love if a facist is elected. But, I’m unable to permanently relocate for a list of reasons. I pray for mindful voters to show up and vote, those who love our country, democracy, the constitution, and are filled with a heart for equity and opportunities. Thanks Adam. You are among my heroes for speaking civilly, truthfully, and credibly.

Grateful to be a part of this community Adam. I imagine it as being diverse but able to see right from wrong clearly. I pray for your strength to continue your work. It is needed and appreciated.

Great perspective, Adam. Thanks. In my community, I write an advance for every local meeting and circulate it around, to help locals understand our government better. Three seats on our local governing board will be open for election in November. I’m organizing meetings to develop local candidates and support them. Good government starts here.

You are active and having a direct impact by educating and organizing. Congratulations. That is as winning approach, and it demonstrates leadership.

I've been doing it since 2017. All reports archived. We have a lot of local government problems (a $20 million water project that doesn't operate for 6,000 people). We need more public involvement.

Slightly reminiscent of MLK’s line, to paraphrase, that “We will get there as a people.” Holding on to hope is not passive. It requires an expenditure of mental and even physical energy. “Encourage one another,” as the Bible says.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Adam! Really appreciate your outlook-I’ve been watching Trump lately, and he’s really aged and looks and acts more and more unfit -perhaps it’s just wishful thinking, but I don’t think he’s going to last much longer. One can only hope!

Smiling…. He does look/speak/act pretty messed up lately. I thought it was me dreaming. Now I know I’m not alone in that thought-process. Thanks 🙏

Thank you for this reminder. I believe every one of us needed to hear it.

This may be the most powerful and inspiring piece that you have ever written, and it comes at a great time when the reactionary right-wing decisions of the Supreme Court, the lack of an effect of Trump becoming a convicted felon on so many people's decision to support him, and continued attack on personal freedoms by Mike Johnson and the rest of the house Republicans, are beating down me and many like me. Thank you for your leadership and your encouragement.

Thanks! Yep like I said, daily reminding is necessary. There will be lower moments than others, but keep the faith!

Perfect piece for the march to November and beyond. We are the Force multiplier and will not succumb to threats or even violence. This noble experiment needs protection, provided by every one of us, acting in unison. Unstoppable and undaunted.

This was a timely message for me. I have to fight a new urge of self preservation to just surrender. Quit fighting. Quit caring. It’s soul-fatigue. I’ve never felt it before. Now I feel the fight returning; not so much for me, but for the next generations. I understand why despair is considered by some to be a sin; it’s narcissistic, at root.
